Painkiller Not Moving Forward at The CW

Before the final season of Black Lightning premiered, fans of the superhero show got word that a potential spin-off might be in the works.

Fast forward to the season premiere when we got word that a backdoor pilot will be debuting in the final season of Black Lightning. Season 4 Episode 7 titled “Painkiller” debut and for me personally, this was the best episode of the season and even last season.

The story of Painkiller and Khalil is so interesting, especially with the duel personalities going on inside the mind of Painkiller, it truly was a great episode, for me personally, I gave it a 10/10 in the review which you can read here.

This would have been a perfect spin-off, an anti-villain/hero persona, with great fight scenes and an interesting story to go along with it. I feel like the story of Painkiller is far from over, this deserves a spin-off.

The episode received high praise from fans when the backdoor pilot aired, with some fans even going as far as to say that this spin-off could have been the younger brother to Arrow seasons 1 and 2 with how great the fight choreography was in the episode, even I was blown away by it.

It’s also spilled into the episode of Black Lightning, with Khalil/Painkiller either getting the favorite moment or the standout character, that’s how well this character was for me, Jordan Calloway killed it as this character for the four seasons he was on Black Lightning.

I fully believe that The CW is making a mistake by not picking up this as a series. This could have been huge for the network.
