Spider-Man 2 on the PlayStation 5 is a little over a month away, we’ve had trailers and news for the game and what to expect. Recently, PlayStation held a “State of Play” event where they released some new footage of the pre-order suits and talked about the expanded map within the game.
Essentially, Insomniac Games has allowed this new game to have a map expanded beyond one borough. You can now go to Brooklyn and Queens. Complete with story missions, side quests, and city activities. The expansion also means even faster traversal options such as the new addition of Web Wings.
Players will also be able to switch between Peter and Miles in the open world. With the power of the PlayStation 5, the switch between characters will be near-instantly. Both Spider Heroes are important characters to the grand story we’re telling in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and each will have their own separate side stories to uncover throughout the city. Help students at Brooklyn Visions as Miles Morales or accept new requests for aid as Peter Parker via the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man app – you can even choose to tackle certain activities as either Spider-Man!
Kraven the Hunter and the monstrous Venom join our roster of villains and will strain our heroes, their relationships, and the place they call home. However, they’re not the only two villains causing trouble in the city.
Along with new suits, Insomniac has also added a new set of abilities and skills for the Spideys. Peter’s new Symbiote powers and Spider-Arms are aggressive and relentless, meanwhile, Miles brings an electrifying and thunderous quality to his bioelectric venom power, as well as evolved venom abilities.
One of the major things I loved about the Spider-Man PS4 and Mile Morales video games was the suits. This has been severely upgraded in this new game. Featuring 65 suits, which include new original designs and fan-favorite suits from films and comics. Players will have an expansive wardrobe of costumes to equip in Spider-Man 2.
A new feature to the game is “Suit Styles”. You can unlock alternate color shaders for some suits, which provide over 200 ways for you to outfit your favorite Spider-Man.
Honestly, I can not wait for this game. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this will be Game of the Year.
