You have probably read the media outlets say the same thing. Yes, Paramount have pretty much announced we are receiving another reboot.
The End of the Fucking World creator, Jonathan Entwistle wishes to bring back the colourful rangers, and is in talks to direct the reboot.
The Hollywood Reporter have announced the rangers will go back in time, and also bring them back to their original roots.
As always, I like to throw my opinion into the fold here.
Do I agree with this?
Absolutely not. This is not the direction I believe Power Rangers should be heading to. The original 2017 reboot for me, was underrated and deserved another chance, especially at a sequel.
The fan-made movie that caused controversy with the studios back in 2015 showed a darker, more brutal styled Power Rangers. Guess what? People went crazy for it! It was different than the over-the-top styles from the 90’s. I struggle to believe going back to this will do any better than the 2017 reboot.
I loved Power Rangers as a kid, but I do struggle to watch them now. They’re far too cringe worthy to watch. Plus, what we watched then, isn’t what kids watch now. I’m a 90’s kid by the way.
Paramount should have left this alone for a bit longer. A reboot announcement just two years after the original reboot is not a great look.
However, if Entwistle has a vision, and I believe he may have a good one then I will hold out full judgement until I see any trailers. I did prefer the 2017 reboot suits, while mostly CGI, they were just amazing to look at.
