After the tease fans received a couple of months ago, Predator fans have officially been shown the full first trailer for the upcoming Predator movie, Prey.
Prey stars Amber Midthunder as Naru, A Comanche warrior who protects her tribe against a Predator.
Set in the Comanche Nation, 300 years ago, the film follows a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains. So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
The trailer shows an intense and intriguing era in the Predator franchise as it’s set 300 years and not in modern society or a “hunt” world like previous Predator movies.
Prey is set to release on Hulu on August 5 and is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison, and produced by John Davis. 20th Century Studios is behind the movie. As noted by 20th Century Studios, Prey filmmakers were committed to creating an accurate portrayal of the Comanche. As a result, the film features a Native Comanche producer and a cast made up almost entirely of Native and First Nations talent, including Midthunder, newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope.
Dane DiLiegro also stars as the Predator.
So far, I am beyond happy with everything I’ve seen from this movie. From the teaser to the trailer to the cast. I’m a massive fan of the Predator in general and over the course of me watching the franchise play out, one thing I’ve always asked for is a different time period with different weapons and this trailer confirms that not only is this a different period of time, but the Predator also has different technology we’ve seen in any film.
I can not wait to watch this film come August 5th.
