News for Titans has been slow since DC FanDome when they revealed a few details and showcased concept art for Red Hood. Season 3 is currently filming.
A report from Variety has confirmed that Savannah Welch will join Season 3 of Titans as Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl. She will also form a new crime-fighting partnership and rekindle an old romance with Dick Greyson.
Welch is known for her role in the History Channel military drama “Six,” in which she played a Marine who suffered an amputation in combat. Welch also starred in Boyhood and Tree of Life.
This casting is perfect as Welch herself is an amputee, losing one of her legs after an accident in 2016. Since then, she has become a spokesperson for the disability community. So this will help her in the role of Barbara Gordon.
While Savannah is not someone I know of but this does give me some hope that she’ll be great as new actors who I don’t know tend to come into a series and form my opinion.
I’m excited to see what the Titans writers do for not only Barbara but Dick, Gar, and the rest of the Titans throughout the season. I hope we get some mention of The Joker and what happened between him and Barbara.
