It feels like an age away from when we first posted the very first Titans trailer on our Facebook page. The response we got from people was an aggressive one for sure.
If you don’t call the first trailer, then we’ve got you covered;
People’s complaints whilst some were a little over the top. Some were warranted to a certain extent. Complaints about Starfire literally not being orange, we got a lot of those. Robin killing people and essentially hating Batman.
Honestly, season 1 had its fair amount of issues but overall it was pretty good, even despite some of the worst acting I have ever seen.
What the show does well is that it’s constantly improving. Stories are being written better, character development is exceptional (they time it perfectly and don’t drag it out for too long) and the villains are always villains a lot of us want to see.
Season 1 ultimately had Trigon, season 2 had an amazing Deathstroke and so far in season 3, we’ve got Red Hood and Scarecrow.
Red Hood is a character I’ve wanted in live-action for as long as I can remember, being one of my all-time favorite villains I was excited for the third season of Titans above anything else this year, and so far it’s delivered.
Season 3 has even managed to make me like characters I didn’t really care for in previous seasons, more notably Hank whose life came to an end at the hands of Red Hood, giving Jason Todd that ultimate impact right away which is what helps further push a villain in the story.
We know Jason Todd at the moment is feeling a lot of regrets and will eventually redeem himself but in the opening episodes, he was ruthless, just like Red Hood is. Curran Walter does a fantastic job in bringing that ruthlessness but vulnerabilities to life.
Despite Titans being a full-blown team-up show similar to what Doom Patrol is, they haven’t wasted characters this season or brought characters in just for the sake of filling numbers.
Rachel hasn’t been necessary to the story as of yet, and she came back in the latest “Souls” episode in an attempt to bring Donna Troy back to life, and it made sense as it was the right time.
Tim Drake has received great development as well. I was half expecting the entire season to revolve around him, but instead, they introduced him, and built him into the overall aspects of the story slowly and only when he’s needed so it’s not just one and done immediately.
We have reviewed each episode of Titans this season and we’re currently sitting on an average of 9.1/10 which is superb.
Overall, Titans have impressed me above all else this season. Even to the point, my wife’s on board with how good it’s been, considering she wasn’t a fan at all of the previous seasons.
It’s worth a punt, and the final 4 episodes have a lot in store and I can only imagine Titans will keep up with their impressive finales as they have done with the 2 previous seasons.
