Shang Chi Has Found It’s Lead

Marvel announced Shang Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings at San Diego Comic Con as part of their Phase 4 plans.

Simu Liu tested for the role of Shang Chi on Sunday and was cast on the Tuesday before Marvel headed to SDCC. Simu Liu was on stage at Hall H when he was joined by cast member Awkwafina who was then joined by actor Tony Leung who joined Shang Chi as The Mandarin who was introduced in “Iron Man 3”

Shang Chi follows Shang, a half-Chinese, half-American superhero created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Jim Starlin. In the comics, Shang-Chi is a master of numerous unarmed and weaponry-based wushu styles, including the use of the gun, nunchaku, and jian. Shang-Chi first appeared in Special Marvel Edition #15 in 1973.

Shang Chi and The Legend Of The Ten Rings will hit theaters on February 12, 2021. The movie will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
