Should Marvel Do A DC FanDome Type Event?

It comes as no surprise that DC FanDome was a monumental success and did it superbly from start to finish. Especially when this year has just sucked badly, this event came at a time that brought a lot of fans together.

Announcements were just flying from everywhere. We had a team of 3 reporting the event and we struggled to keep up. However, for DC is was greatly needed. It also puts DC in a position that they so desperately deserve after so many years of ups and downs.

They finally have a straight path, something Marvel always did brilliantly. We know what’s coming, and most of all, pretty much when it’s coming as well.

However, Marvel still feels clunky, even after 2019’s Comic-Con at San Diego. For the last 10 years, Marvel has had a timeline and they’ve known exactly what they were going to do and when. Now, it just feels different.

I’ve spoken to many Marvel fans, including die-hard hardcore fans and casuals, and they’re both sceptical with the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward, and I have to admit, so am I.

Marvel has announced some great stuff don’t get me wrong. Spider-Man 3, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther 2, Eternals, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and more.

My problem is, all of that stuff is great, but it’s all over the place. We’re hearing next to no news on pretty much all of it. Eternals has a release date of February 2021, literally 6 months ago and was actually supposed to release in November. So, where’s the teaser trailer for it? I know certainty of its release it shrouded in mystery due to the pandemic, but surely we should get something for it?

Understandably COVID19 has shaken everything to its core, so it’s understandable news may be slow coming in. This is when I get to the question of my article.

Should they organise an event like this? Absolutely. We don’t know what will happen with San Diego Comic-Con in 2021, so we can’t confidently look forward to it as it just may not happen, like this year.

An event like this would capitalise on people’s excitement, especially during a pandemic where everything is just so weird currently.

They surely have trailers ready for specific movies, especially news considering we’ve had so little of it. They have shows that have had a lot filmed, that could easily be showcased. Release dates, and more.

Not to mention news on the Fox stuff. X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool and others. Surely movement has happened with those by now, so surely it’s time to let the fans know?

Within an 8-hour event, DC shook everything. I believe Marvel could easily do the same. I’m a huge fan of both Marvel and DC so I don’t “side” with one or the other, I just want them both to do well. After all, it’s us fans that get the best of both worlds when they’re both on top.

What do you guys think? Should Marvel organise their own stay-at-home event for fans around the world to marvel (pun intended) at even more superhero news? Let me know down in the comments below.
