What I Liked

1. Very clever from Jod as we pick up right from where we left off. He plays into this Jedi republic officer, a blue lightsaber also helps as the parents believe him. It shows despite his shortcomings, he has a fantastic ability to think on the spot. Although, considering this, how great he’s been at improvising throughout the season. We do see Jod a bit differently here and we see his weaknesses exposed throughout.

2. We finally meet the supervisor, which is a tad underwhelming, but the supervisor catches on quickly that Jod is lying. He ignites his saber, destroys the droids, and then destroys the supervisor. This results in the entire planet losing power. What a moment.

3. Wim’s dad has been terrible from the beginning, extremely robotic and seemingly emotionless. When the pirates invade, the 3 children get on hover bikes which are still powered and Wim’s dad tries to chase them down ultimately unintentionally joining them. He has a blast, he loves it. When they make the jump he’s ecstatic. It’s nice to see this.

4. Wim manages to outsmart Jod, a little bit. He and his dad infiltrate the tower where Jod is, Wim tells Jod a bogus story to distract him to allow the dad to push power to the ship where KB is on standby. They’re successful and KB manages to take off with some help. Queue point 5.

5. SM-33 is back! Both she and KB manage to escape the barrier and contact the owl. The owl confirms she’ll contact the New Republic and they’ll be on their way. The ship is hit shortly after, and this entire scene is extremely intense.

What I Disliked

I’m never in the boat of clambering for cameos in shows but I was hoping the Supervisor would be something other than a massive machine. It makes little sense a droid would care enough to protect a planet the way it did but I guess in the end, a cameo for the Supervisor wasn’t overly needed.

Favorite Moment

Wim’s dad, flying in with a lovely right hook, rocks Jod, allowing the rest to fight back. Wim and Fern go for the saber, whereas the parents go for the barrier switch. Wim holds the saber and ignites it, and we come to a standoff as the barrier disappears. The New Republic arrives pretty much immediately after, and the fights on. What a moment!!

Standout Character

I’m going to give this to Wim. He finally stood up to everything and he was one of the main reasons the New Republic managed to gain entry into the planet and save the day. It was about time his bravery was shown. He’s a testament to how far the kids came on this adventure and the resilience they’ve shown throughout.

Verdict

This has been one of the most surprising series I think I have ever watched. The finale ended brilliantly and it’s been a journey for us viewers as well. I felt more engaged and more intrigued with this show than I ever did with The Acolyte. I do hope there are plans for a season 2 because I’d love to see this continue.
