
Star Wars Celebration 2025 has begun in Japan and has revealed some new information about the upcoming films, animated shows, and more. With more information and reveals happening on the 19th, this article is an update article that was revealed today (18th) with new information, teases, and castings.
The Mandalorian and Grogu
Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni arrived on stage to give the audience a sneak peek into The Mandalorian and Grogu movie. Favreau confirmed that the film will be in IMAX, so the rpactical sets and enviroments had to be adjusted to match the scale, including a full size walker.
Sigourney Weaver joins another huge franchise after being in Alien and Avatar, she now joins Star Wars. She revealed that she has never seen any of The Mandalorian series but quickly fell in love with the characters. Her name for the character has been confirmed as Colonel Bishop, who is a skilled X-wing pilot.
A clip was shown to the audience that shows Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian going all in on the troopers and quickly dispatching them all. We catch brief glimpses of Grogu swimming underwater, using the force, and the footage also revealed a buff Hutt who is likely Rotta the Hutt who will be played by Jeremy Allen White.


Star Wars: Starfighter
Kathleen Kennedy revealed that director Shawn Levy will be directing a Star Wars film titled Star Wars: Starfighter. Shawn Levy revealed that this is no longer a Star Wars movie in development; this is a Star Wars film that we’re making this fall.
He also stated that this is a “standalone adventure” that takes place 5-6 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. he also stated that “this is not a prequel, this is not a sequel, this is a new adventure with a collection of whole new characters. This is set to be released on May 28, 2027.
It was revealed that Ryan Gosling will lead this film as he joined the director on stage. No details about Gosling’s character were shared. While Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that there are still movies in “development” from James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Taika Waititi. She also confirmed that a new trilogy was being developed by X-Men director Simon Kinberg.
As a reminder, Mangold’s film is said to be about the “Dawn of the Jedi,” which follows the first Jedi Knight, 25,000 years before the prequels. Obaid-Chinoy’s film will be a new adventure featuring Daisy Ridley’s Rey, set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
