Star Wars: The Acolyte “Night” Review

Season 1 Episode 5 “In the dense jungle, the Jedi are put to the test when they confront a rising darkness.” –

What I Liked

1. This dark-side user is familiar to Master Sol. The dark-side user tells Master Sol that Sol doesn’t remember him. I need to know more about this dark-side user. While this is going on, we get to see Jecki tangle it up with Mae.

2. I do really like how you can sense and feel how heavy these lightsabers are compared to lightsabers in Star Wars from the present day. You can see the wait with each strike that any Jedi uses. This is a subtle touch but I do like it.

3. This dark-side user wants all the smoke. It doesn’t matter if you’re a master Jedi, a padawan, or a civilian, you are in front of him, and you will be attacked. This dark-side user also likes Jecki for being a loyal student. He also has a weapon on his wrist that disables lightsabers for a few seconds. This dark-side user is very formidable.

4. Jecki and Master Sol continue to engage in a fierce duel with this dark-side user. Jecki manages to knock off his helmet when this dark-side user splits his saber in half and manages to stab Jecki 3 times with ease. We finally get to see him unmasked and it’s Qimir, the person who was helping Mae all along.

5. Qimir after holding Mae hostage, tells Master Sol he wants a pupil, an acolyte. This is when Yord rushes in and begins to attack Qimir, but Qimir manages to outsmart him, outplay him, and snap his neck without hesitation. For a reveal episode, Qimir is certainly making his mark.

What I Disliked

Is Master Sol just going to leave the fallen Jedi there? Not even bring them back to Coruscant?

Favorite Moment

Immediately my favorite moment comes at the beginning of the episode where we get to see the duel between this dark side user and the Jedi, we’re seeing it from the perspective of Osha, where we see the lightsabers through the trees and we get to see this dark side user tank a couple of strikes. Who is this dark-side user? We see him block a lightsaber strike and then legit headbutt another strike, and then also tank a stun from Osha?

Standout Character

Qimir takes the standout character this week without a doubt. He wanted all the smoke from the beginning of the episode. This guy took out multiple Jedi with ease.

Verdict

It’s hands down the best episode of the entire season yet. This episode went so hard for the action that it felt real. The action alone was fantastic. The reveal of this “Sith” was great and seeing him easily take down Master Jedi with complete ease was hands down the best yet. I need to know more. I want to know who trained him, how powerful he is, and more.
