Star Wars: The Acolyte “The Acolyte” Review

Season 1 Episode 8 – “Confrontation and revelation await.”

What I Liked

1. The episode begins with Qimir looking over Osha wearing the helmet when both of them get controlled. We see Qimir with black eyes while in a different realm of sorts. Is the helmet cursed? Is it a source of power?

2. The space chase scene was actually really good. It honestly felt like a chase scene from in The Clone Wars something like Anakin would do. Although I would have liked to see more of it, it was good nonetheless.

3. I do really like the fight scene between Qimir and Master Sol. You can see the two different fighting styles that both competitors have. Sol using a defensive style while Qimir is not fully using an aggressive style but he’s countering Master Sol.

4. Everything is about balance. The fight scene between Osha and Mae, both wearing white and black, both completely in sync and both just as great as each other, and both together as one like a yin and yang.

5. Vernestra Rwoh makes Sol a rogue Jedi who killed his Jedi team. This is what I did not expect. Seeing how easy it is for the Jedi to make lies up and go with it shows how flawed the Jedi truly are.

6. Yoda appearing at the end? Will we see a second season?

What I Disliked

1. The little otter creature thing that is running about the ship. The creature knows that Mae is evil and yet still causes damage to the ship to allow Mae to get away.

2. We got a Darth Plagueis reveal for a split second? Oh man, this was bad. He should have been the one to end Sol.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would be when Osha turns to the dark side and bleeds Sol’s kyber crystal in front of him before choking the life force out of him officially cementing her place by the side of Qimir. However, I do question what Plagueis will do as we saw him learn that life can be created.

Standout Character

Honestly, I’m giving this to Osha. I knew it was coming from early on in the season but seeing her bleed a kyber crystal and choke Sol was crazy.

Verdict

Honestly, this was not a great finale. However, it did have some moments of greatness like the fight scene between Sol and Qimir, Osha killing Sol. With that being said, it did have some bad moments like Plagueis being thrown in there for a split second, but the turn of Osha was predictable.
