What I Liked
1. We see Omega in the Empire’s base. She feels like she is a prisoner but the doctor tells her that she is anything but a prisoner. Within time, she’ll learn to understand that and become one of them. Omega sees Crosshair but he doesn’t look like himself. He looks broken, run down, and just drained of life.
2. The Empire base Omega is at is bleak. It has no life from the Empire themselves, to Omega, to the prisoners, and to the animals. It’s honestly fascinating seeing the differences between the normal civilization to the different Empire bases.
3. I do like what Crosshair is saying to Omega. She’s talking to him about an injured animal and escaping. Crosshair asks her what is her primary objective to which she responds “Escape”. He tells her that if he had the chance, he wouldn’t think twice about leaving her. He also mentions that he isn’t the Bad Batch and that he deserves to be in there. Crosshair is truly broken by the sounds of it.
What I Disliked
My only dislike would be that no action scenes and no Bad Batch were showing up. This was an episode purely focused on seeing Omega learning to adapt to her new surroundings.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment would be Omega freeing the animal she came to love and care for. It was a great scene to see that Omega still had that hope and love.
Standout Character
Omega was the main character of the episode. She is the only one I can give this to.
Verdict
Overall, a weak episode to begin season 3 of The Bad Batch. Typically, a show like this goes all out in action but this first episode was slow, bland, and just had a grey tone to the episode. I hope the other two episodes make this first episode worth it.
