Season 1 Episode 5 “The Batch strike a deal to take on a mission.”
What I Liked?
1. The Squad goes and speaks with a Jedi informer named Sid about the bounty hunter who is after Omega, She tells the squad that she’ll find out who the bounty hunter is if the squad do a mission in return, a kid called Moochie” is being enslaved on the other side of the planet, the squad agrees and goes on their way to complete the mission.
2. Hunter gives the squad their missions, Echo on overwatch up the top of the building, Wrecker as the distraction, Omega to stay on the ship while Hunter and Tech go in and snatch the kid up, the squad gets ready to complete the mission until they are swiftly overpowered by a dragon creature and the squad ends up being captured.
3. Omega comes to the rescue by unlocking the cage of the massive creature the enslavers have, Omega rescues the team and the civilians, we come to learn that the creature Omega freed is actually Moochie and it’s a baby Rancor, possibly the same one in which was killed by Luke Skywalker in the original movies.
What I Disliked?
The only thing I disliked was how easy Wrecker got knocked down again, he’s a clone with enhanced strength, but I believe that this may be a side of the inhibitor chip that he banged in the early episodes of the season, this is still causing him problems which could lead into him executing Order 66.
Favorite Moment
Even though he was knocked down easily again, Wrecker gave me my favorite moment of the episode when we see him getting into a wrestling match against the Rancor to assert dominance.
Standout Character
Omega, she became a proper member of the Bad Batch this episode.
The Verdict
Overall a solid filler episode, which tied into the story but also was mainly a side quest, took nothing away from how great the episode was, it just wasn’t as important as the first episode.
