Star Wars: The Bad Batch “Reunion” Review

Season 1 Episode 8 “The Batch find themselves cornered on treacherous terrain.”

What I Liked?

1. Crosshair and his squad take a squadron of Stormtroopers to Bracca to to “terminate” the Batch, back on Bracca Wrecker is training Omega on how to disarm a Thermal Detonator but in reality, it’s a smoke bomb, Echo and Wrecker notice they are being watched, the Batch manage to subdue the scrappers who spotted them, Hunter wants to sell the weapons left in the armory for credits much to Echo’s dismay. This whole scene was great because we got to see Wrecker train Omega, while this showcased just how well the senses of the Batch is, being able to realize they’re being watched even without actually spotting the people watching them.

2. Crosshair arrives on Bracca, he makes an entrance very similar to how Kylo Ren did in Star Wars episode 7 in the movies, he brings with him 3 attack ships worth of Stormtroopers, the Batch come up with a plan to sneak out of the ship and leave Bracca but with Crosshair being loyal and smart, he knew they’d do that so he easily cornered them, Tech causes a distraction by using the artillery canons to destroy the deck that everyone is standing on. This scene showed just how much Crosshair is being controlled and just how ruthless he is when he told the Stormtroopers to aim at the kid, meaning Omega.

3. Crosshair also shows more of his smart/ruthless side when he knew which exit the Batch would take, the engine ports, he tells a Stormtrooper to go to the bridge and wait on his signal, when the Batch go to leave the engine port, Crosshair has them trapped, although we get to see the Batch outsmart Crosshair by using detonators to drop the engine towards Crosshair just seconds before it turns on causes Crosshair to receive major burns. This would have been my favorite scene until something else happened a short few scenes later.

4. Now this next point is a short point but none-the-less this shot was amazing. After Hunter wakes up we get to see it from inside his helmet, looking out towards Wrecker with Hunter’s perspective, we get to see Tech and Echo scurrying around trying to save Hunter while Wrecker is in hysterics about Omega being captured, we get to see Stormtroopers firing on the squad as well. This was such a perfect shot, it literally puts you right in that scene.

What I Disliked?

Absolutely nothing to report.

Favorite Moment

As I mentioned earlier, I would have picked another scene in which that would have been my favorite, however, I can not ignore the fact that this fan-favorite character from The Clone Wars actually returned after years. We get to see Hunter and Omega make it safely back to the Batch’s ship, when a mysterious bounty hunter is waiting for them, out steps Cad Bane, a ruthless bounty hunter who can easily kill a Jedi, he and Hunter get into a western standoff, both soldiers draw their weapons but ultimately this badass scene was won by Cad Bane who shoots Hunter clean in the chest plate, dropping him to the floor in a single shot.

Standout Character

Crosshair deserves it this week, this episode showcased just how ruthless he was and the lengths he would go to actually complete his mission.

The Verdict

Hands down one of the best episodes this season, another great episode. The story, action, animation, and reveals were written perfectly and were just so amazing to witness, Cad Bane returning from The Clone Wars caught me off guard and was an amazing reveal.
