Stargirl “Summer School: Chapter Four” Review

Season 2 Episode 4 – As Pat considers whether he should come clean to Courtney about Eclipso’s past, a surprise visit from Crock and Paula catches him and Barbara off guard; a tense run-in with the Shade provides Courtney with some valuable information.

What I Liked

1. I’m not quite sure how to put into words that Sportsmaster and Tigress have literally broken out of prison to watch their daughter play football. Say what you want but that’s supportive parenting right there. To make it even better they ask for Pat to help them lay low until the game is finished so they can break back into prison afterward, such a weird but great scene.

2. The scenes between Sportsmaster and Pat, then Barbara and Tigress are absolutely comedy gold. So awkward and hilarious at the same time.

3. Cindy has begun recruiting for the ISA and it seems she is going after the original members’ children. The one thing that I’m interested in is Mike. Pat doesn’t have powers, so how does he tie into her plan and why?

4. Beth’s goggles not working has been a bit annoying to watch but it has just paid off as we see Dr. Midnight is still alive and has been trapped in the shadows all these years. Honestly, I think there is a chance that The Shade didn’t kill him, and instead saved him.

What I Disliked

Although they weren’t necessarily needed this episode I do have to throw in here that were now on episode 4 and Yolanda, Rick and Beth have done absolutely nothing again.

Favourite Moment

Cindys shaping up to be an amazing villain! The football game scene had so much going on I couldn’t keep up. By using the black diamond to manipulate Artemis, making her think a swat team was surrounding her parents, but in reality, it was Courtney she ended up attacking. This was followed by a very emotional scene of Sportsmaster and Tigress having to tell their daughter they weren’t innocent and have to go back to prison.

Standout Character

Kind of a double standout this week as Sportsmaster and Tigress take the title this time! These characters were so different this episode compared to the first season. I loved to see the side of them as loving parents, and good people, despite making a lot of mistakes. Well played to the show for this as it was very unexpected.

Verdict

A great episode that has progressed very well. We now have Cindy recruiting the new ISA, The Shade isn’t the villain we thought and Dr. Midnight is alive. A lot going on in this episode.
