Supergirl “Blurred Lines” Review

Season 5 Episode 3 “Kara tries to mend her relationship with Lena; J’onn J’onzz goes deep into his memories; Kelly tries to help an old friend.”

What I Liked

1. J’onn and Dreamer delve into J’onn’s mind. We get to see how Ma’alefa’ak was laughed at, especially during a game of Hide and Seek. It brings that element of sympathy to his reasoning. Even his father left him. It was the White Martians that took him in. Solid scenes.

2. Braniac double clapping the lamp like Bruce Almighty deserves a mention here. What a character.

3. Never understood this alien thing going on this episode with the tatoo. However the Spider-Gwen moment was enjoyable.

4. J’onn has bored me to death since season 3. He’s been one of those characters that I couldn’t see why they kept around. More importantly, with this being J’onn’s brother, it has me curious. J’onn was finally back on form this episode, and the scenes got me excited for the episodes to come

What I Disliked

1. The other arks besides J’onn and his brothers, it’s been incredibly uninteresting the first 30 minutes. Kara acting like suck up Lena can feel so uneasy at times. It does, however, make this Lena thing worse. She’s angry over Kara not telling her she’s Supergirl. It’s just petty, it feels petty.

2. Looks like Braniac and Dreamer have broken up. Their relationship had some of the best moments this season so far, disappointing.

Favourite Moment

The sacred code the Martians have about wiping others minds, it turns out, J’onn did the very thing he’s against to his own father. I was not expecting that.

The Verdict

An average episode that felt more filler. We got some questions answered in terms of J’onn’s brother, but it was fairly lacklustre. A lot of the arks never really did anything for me. There was multiple times I felt myself switching off.

Rating: 7.8/10
