Supergirl “Hope for Tomorrow” Review

Season 6 Episode 15 – Supergirl continues to fight Nyxly for the remaining totems, but after Nyxly kidnaps William, Supergirl realizes she needs to take a more proactive stance to keep National City safe; Alex faces the biggest challenge of her life.

What I Liked

1. A nice touching scene to open the episode with. We get to see everybody get into their roles in regards to Esme coming home to Alex and Kelly for the very first time. It’s just beautiful all around and a very good direction for the writers to go down, especially for Alex and Kelly.

2. Big props to Esme for just completely wrecking Kara’s identity as Supergirl. Nonetheless, all of the scenes so far with Esme have been super cute and the best part of this season so far.

3. Did William really just sweep Nyxyl after she begins choking him to death? Ah, I’m impressed. Not bad at all.

What I Disliked

1. The totems are still the most boring part of the season. I can’t care as much as I try to give to plebs about this entire storyline. Halfway through and my eyes were getting heavy, I was that bored I nearly fell asleep.

2. Supergirl attempts to stop Nyxyl again at Catco after she knocks William out in order to kidnap him. Supergirl is outplayed in seconds. Is there even a point anymore to this?

3. Supergirl flies up to the sun with some terrible CGI and destroys the Hope totem. Then of course, as predictable as it can possibly be, Nyxyl is given a similar suit to fly up and get it back. I do like the fact it’s most likely a Luthor suit but the premise of it is just awful.

Favourite Moment

Perhaps the best scene of the episode. Corto Maltese and Kaznia fire nukes at each other due to a disagreement. Supergirl, Brainiac, and J’onn all intercept the missiles before the collision and it was actually pretty decent the way they did it. As a result of doing so, she gained the Hope totem.

Standout Character

I am going to give this week’s standout to Alex. Watching her go through the motions of becoming a Mom for the very first time was great. Not to mention the actual acting side of it was phenomenal. Overall, an impressive week by Alex.

Verdict

It does come to something when the best part of the episode is an adoption case between Alex, Kelly, and Esme. The entire scenes in this episode were cute, and for me, that’s what saved the entire episode.
