What I Liked

1. The episode begins with a brief flashback of Ally’s childhood. We’re introduced to a pendant that does something to one wearing it. The person she was with as a child begged her not to take it but Ally accepts it alongside a very handsome inheritance. Possibly the reason why she’s able to pay for a cult. But, for me, this is a good start.

2. Lois and Bizarro go face to face for the first time which was a super intense moment. She heads to the mines and finds him there searching for something, even brutally murdering one of the employees inside.

3. Jon gets slightly jealous after Sam is training Jordan to harness his powers. Jon takes one of those inhalers that seemingly enhance his strength. He offers Jordan to “spar”. This isn’t usually the type of moments I like but Jon looked great slipping Jordan’s punches. Jon did win this time, I am hoping this inhaler story is leading to him actually having powers.

4. Bizarro goes for Ally this time. Lois and Superman show just prior to him being there to, in a massive twist, save her life. Bizarro comes out of nowhere and Superman manages to save Ally. This results in another encounter between Superman and Bizarro. Another fantastic scene.

5. I’ve got to huge props to Erik Valdez who plays Kyle in this episode. As his whole world comes crashing down through him cheating a few years ago, the acting here from him it’s outstanding. The way he’s moving around filled with pure guilt was astonishing. Despite this obviously not going well for Kyle, it’s the entire acting ability here that brought me properly into the story.

6. It does seem as though the inhalers could be manifesting Jon’s powers. As he becomes angry in a conversation with Jordan, his eyes heat up. I really do hope this happens as it would be a very interesting avenue for the show to go down.

7. We do learn some interesting stuff at the end of the episode. Bizarro is now able to be understood and can speak English, technically. We learn the “realm” Chrissy went to is possibly the same one Bizarro is from. This is the same world that Ally pretty much runs. Bizarro is here to actually stop her. This entire season just really takes a very… very interesting direction.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report this week.

Favourite Moment

The fight between Superman and Bizarro is exceptionally impressive. Despite Bizarro only getting the upper hand once, Superman straight-up annihilated him. Those uppercuts were nasty, to say the least. An amazing fight scene between the two.

Standout Character

So, this is an out-of-the-box selection but I choose the standout based on the character that stood out to me no matter how big or small of a part they played in the episode. This week Kyle takes it for me. You could really see the “I messed up” written all over his face, the body language, the panic, it was fantastic.

Verdict

Superman and Lois is back with a huge episode after a brief hiatus. Relationships break down, fights break out, questions are answered. It’s one of those episodes that you walk away from just truly appreciating this show more and more. I feel like I say this every week but if you haven’t given this show a chance then I truly believe you should. It’s THAT good.
