What I Liked
1. This is a subtle like at the beginning of the episode. Lois and Ally continue their conversation in the diner, obviously, this gets tense and heated. After Lois shuts it down, Ally stands up, she had bodyguards stationed around the diner. One of the more impressive feats here is the fact Lois didn’t even flinch when they did. She didn’t even try to call Superman. That shows resilience.
2. Superman and Bizarro finally go head to head. As John and Clark are having a conversation, he shows up out of nowhere. The two have somewhat of a scuffle until John intervenes by throwing his hammer at the pair. The fight wasn’t a proper fight and it looked like the necklace Bizarro was wearing was doing something to Superman.
3. It’s great seeing Jordan use his powers so easily now. He uses his frost breath to ice the floor so the thieves in the store slip. Unfortunately for Jordan, he did so right in front of a camera. An even nicer moment follows when the police arrive, he calls Sam, his Grandfather. Sam actually helps by scrambling the CCTV footage. I just think this was a lovely moment.
4. We found out earlier in the episode that the mist Ryan was taking kind of grants one of Superman’s powers. That was the jist of it anyway. However, Jon takes it at the football game and it granted him enhanced sight. This inflated his ego and allowed him to outshine Ryan in the football game. I did enjoy this scene more out of intrigue into this drug styled inhaler. I’m still wondering if this will manifest powers he may have.
5. This entire Lois and Ally situation is shaping up to be a very interesting storyline. Lois finally reconnects with her sister, Lucy. But Lucy has a completely hidden agenda. She’s in fact recording what Lois is saying, Ally, her “cult” and Chrissy all watch it happening live. It’s all eerie with the way that the story is progressing.
6. Anderson manages to track down Bizarro and sends his Supers after him. You know immediately this is a big mistake. Two of the Supers are killed almost immediately as Bizarro snaps their necks. This results in Superman showing up right as Bizarro is about to kill Tag. More importantly, John gets overly worried when Superman flies off to help. He actually tells his AI to prepare the suit. I loved this moment.
7. Sam just continues on with his nice little touches. This time Jordan asks him for his help to train him. I would like to see Jordan get involved in the battlefield. He’s shown he has the potential to be capable. This could be a good direction for his character.
What I Disliked
Does anybody like Chrissy’s character? Because all she’s done this season is pissing me off. She acted desperately to get Lois on board. Now she’s completely betraying her and it’s just predictable. This is one character from the show that should be written out. I hope Ally does so with this. I might be harsh when I say that but in every episode, she’s the only one that lets it down. Not the actress, of course, she’s amazing, it’s the character and the direction. It’s not good or interesting.
Favourite Moment
Round 2 for Superman and Bizarro was fantastic. John valiantly tries to help but unfortunately, he puts all of his energy and power into the hammer. He manages to get a shot on Bizarro but it doesn’t last long as he’s openly vulnerable. Bizarro comes back out of nowhere and wipes him cleanout. This allows Superman to channel his anger and beat Bizarro in the fight. It’s sad after this that John looks to have suffered a serious brain injury due to the hit. I really wish they’d hurry up and fix the suit.
Standout Character
Superman is the most deserving character for me this week. It was all about that second fight. There’s nothing more entertaining than watching Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman get super pissed and then just go ballistic. Another top-notch performance as always from Mr. Hoechlin.
Verdict
Currently, the show’s stories are essentially split down the middle with Lois having her story with Ally, then Superman has his story with Bizarro and it’s setting itself up perfectly. Another great episode with a slight letdown again but I do believe this small annoyance will iron itself out eventually.
