What I Liked

1. The death of the ex-mayor George Dean was pretty impactful in this episode. Lana overhears through their call as he is brutally murdered by Onomatopoeia.

2. While investigating Henry Miller and how he ended up with powers, the judge who ordered the release ends up feeling guilty over what she’s done, despite the fact she clearly didn’t have a choice and took herself to the rooftop. The scene was pretty hard to watch as the guilt overcame her and Lois tried to talk her down.

3. Lana and John find a flash drive that clearly held important information as Onomatopoeia attacks them both. Thankfully neither of the pair is seriously harmed, but I’d love to know what was on that flash drive.

4. Lois breaking the news to her boys was utterly heartbreaking as they ran to be by her side. Very powerful and emotional scenes given by everyone throughout these scenes. Very well done.

What I Disliked

1. The uncomfortable moments between Jordan and Sarah are getting slightly irritating. More so because their breakup really was just over something ridiculous.

2. The first half of their episode was quite slow and boring, I really struggled to focus because nothing interesting was really happening.

Favorite Moment

In the CW shows, a lot can happen to the characters. We see them kidnapped by villains, poisoned, tortured sometimes killed but I think this is the first time I’ve seen one of these shows tackle a natural illness in one of its main characters. Lois announces she has an aggressive form of breast cancer while trying to talk the judge down from the roof. The pain in hers and Clark’s faces really spoke volumes and I’m sure this hit a lot of viewers from home.

Standout Character

Lois has to take standout this week. Amazing performance from Bitsie Tulloch I can not imagine how hard that was for her to do.

Verdict

The first half of this episode wasn’t great, nothing big was happening which led to me feeling quite bored throughout. We then hear of Lois’ diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer. This entire segment of the story is beyond emotional. The CW has never tackled this type of story within a superhero show before so this is something I’m intrigued to see play out.
