The latest news coming out of the world of Star Wars is coming from One Take News and it involves the upcoming “Ahsoka” series coming to Disney+ in August.
According to One Take News, Temuera Morrison will be returning to the world of Star Wars but will be portraying Captain Rex for the very first time in live-action.
This makes perfect sense as fans know just how closely bonded Rex and Ahsoka became over the course of the Clone Wars, as well as the two being a trio of sorts with Anakin, who we also know is returning to the Ahsoka series played by Hayden Christensen.
While we don’t exactly know what role Rex will play or even if he is alive during the main time in the Ahsoka series it will be great to see the old Captain once again and this time, in live-action. According to One Take News, they were unable to confirm whether it was a present-day cameo or a flashback scene, as we know we will be getting Clone Wars flashbacks.
If this is the case of Morrison returning to play Rex, myself, along with many other fans will be insanely happen. This also lines up with the old rumor of him returning to the Obi-Wan Kenobi series by playing Commander Cody in that but was ultimately changed to a homeless 501st Legion Clone.
The Ahsoka series is shaping up to be the very best project coming out of Lucasfilm in the near future. There is mention of Lucasfilm executives being impressed by the series and how it came together and that was a big factor in Dave Filoni getting his very own Star Wars movie.
That film will be the culmination of the ongoing plot thread that started with The Mandalorian and that will continue with Ahsoka and beyond that series.
A second season of the Ahsoka series all depends on how the first season performs according to reports, but rumor has it, Ahsoka is damn well good so I fully expect a greenlight on a season 2 pretty much after the premiere episode of Ahsoka.
