Lucasfilm has opted not to continue the story of The Acolyte on Disney+. The Star Wars series starring Amandla Stenberg will not return. The decision comes more than a month after the eight-episode season from showrunner Leslye Headland.
Not surprising, as the majority of Star Wars fans had nothing but bad things to say about the show. Although some of the series were bad, it wasn’t all bad, the series had some great moments.
In interviews, Leslye Headland spoke about ideas she had pitched for a second season, hoping for a renewal.
In addition to Stenberg, the cast included Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman and Carrie-Anne Moss.
The Acolyte got off to a great start with 4.8M views on it’s first day which made it the biggest series premiere on Disney+ this year. That then rose to 11.1 million views globally after five days.
I hope we get to see some of the characters return in other Star Wars projects.
