What I Liked

1. I actually do really like that The Boys creators are not afraid to mock Marvel. While I know it’s all in good jest and funny, seeing it happen on screen is hilarious, especially with some of the movie names that have been made up.

2. Finally, the show is fully connected to the Gen V spin-off series. They are bringing in the virus that kills supes that we saw created in that show. I want to see it in action this season whether it works or not on Supes.

3. It’s always nice to see Giancarlo Esposito back on the screen. No matter what series, his presence is always felt.

4. Honestly, I did not expect killer chickens. Seeing a chicken jump through someone’s chest and killing them was not what I was expecting to see today. The Boys continue to do the unexpected.

5. Homelander officially turns the heroes into gods. I like this new way of thinking. I will enjoy this going forward if we see the heroes continue to be relentless and brutal, just without a care.

What I Disliked

Honestly, for an episode of The Boys, this is a really extremely slow episode. While it does have some crazy action scenes involving Hughie’s dad, it’s still a slow episode, which feels a tad unnatural for an episode of The Boys.

Favorite Moment

My favorite part would be seeing Hughies dad receive powers and accidentally kill some people. We literally see him run through a wall and through a person and become solid and kill him. This was insanely crazy. The compound V that Hughies mom gave his dad has seemingly made Hughie’s dad forget a lot of stuff, including believing Hughie is 11 years old.

Standout Character

Hughie without a doubt takes the standout character this week. As much as he loves his dad, he knows what he needs to do to help him and that’s to end his life. This was a heartbreaking scene.

Verdict

A very mixed episode. In some scenes the action was great, in other scenes the story was somewhat weak. It was a very mixed episode for an episode of The Boys. Although this episode was slow, it did still have some emotionally driven scenes with Hughie.
