What I Liked
1. I love how Homelander is truly shaking by the return of Soldier Boy. To the point where he truly praises Black Noir for being on his side. This is when we see Black Noir go into an elevator and begin slicing open his arm pulling out a track and giving it to a traumatized woman in the elevator with him. The poor soul was just doing her job and got covered in blood.
2. Jensen Ackles’s performance as a man out of time is truly incredible. His way of explaining what “real men” are. How Bill Cosby made some strong drinks. Honestly, the way he brings the olden days to the present-day is actually really well done. His reactions to some of the present-day stuff are hilarious.
3. In the scene where Frenchy is tortured although you don’t see it you can see the after-effects of it, having to choose between a girl or Kimiko to not be shot is brutal. Kimiko gets mad because Frenchy is hurt so she breaks free, and brutally murders the people going to kill her. Kimiko is badass.
4. MM finally explains to Starlight why his issue with Soldier Boy began. One night when he was young, some kids were trying to steal a Mercedes when Soldier Boy arrived. MM shouted for his grandfather to come to see and that’s when Soldier Boy threw the vehicle through his home, killing his grandfather.
5. A-Train has probably one of the best kill scenes of the entire season. He gets so angry at Blue Hawk that he doesn’t hesitate about speeding off running while holding Blue Hawks’ foot, we see him get dragged for miles with his body just scraping the pavement. A-Train’s heart goes insane beating quite fast and he has a heart attack.
6. The fight 6 episodes in the making, Soldier Boy vs Homelander is back and forth with ultimately Homelander getting the best of Soldier Boy until he’s knocked down by Butcher. Butcher and Soldier Boy then work together to fight Homelander. With Hughie arriving as back-up. The trio is about to kill Homelander when Homelander panics and flies away.
What I Disliked
Nothing to report.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment would be at Herogasm. Hughie sneaks in there using his powers while MM and Starlight also arrive there to save people. The amount of sex stuff in this scene is actually really impressive. A-Train arrives and actually apologizes to Hughie for killing Robin. I think this could be a change for A-Train. MM faces off with Soldier Boy before Butcher tells Soldier Boy not him. MM and Butcher get into a fight. After Soldier Boy finds out it was Noir’s idea, Soldier Boy loses control of his powers and kills a good chunk of the people at Herogasm.
Standout Character
While there are many people I can choose the stand out this week. I will have to give it to Starlight. Especially for what she did at the end of the episode. She went on Instagram live and told the world that Vaught only care for themselves. She explains that they don’t have Soldier Boy handled and that he never cared for the American people. She also quit being a superhero.
Verdict
The best episode of the season thus far. Absolutely incredible from start to finish. With a title like “Herogasm”, they didn’t overdo it. They kept all the sex stuff in the background, and made jokes but ultimately paid off with an incredible fight. The scene with A-Train and Blue Hawk was brutal and so well needed.
