What I Liked

1. I like how this episode is making Soldier Boy be the Homelander to MM. I like the connection between Soldier Boy to MM’s father, how he died because of him while ignoring MM and his sibling. I really like this. Interested to see Soldier Boy debut in the show too.

2. Frenchy and Kimiko track down Crimson Countess to learn the truth about Soldier Boy, when Crimson Countess gets away from the two, she uses her powers to fire an energy ball at Kimiko and Frenchy but misses and kills a civilian by blowing his body up, covering kids in blood and guts.

3. While trying to save a young girl from committing suicide, the breaking news of Stormfront’s suicide airs, truly breaking Homelander. He gets visually upset at the news, he gives a speech to the young girl but he begins telling the young girl to jump from the building, we then see the young girl hit the pavement. This is where Homelander begins to go off the rails.

4. Butcher goes back to speak with Gunpowder again, without hesitation, Gunpowder shoots Butcher, however, he gets back up and the bullets seemingly drop off him. He then beats up Gunpowder. Gunpowder explains that it wasn’t the meltdown that killed Soldier Boy. Butcher then brutally beats Gunpowder until laser beams shoot out of his eyes, killing Gunpowder.

5. I absolutely loved the moment Homelander just snapped on live TV. He straight up told the public that he is better, he is stronger and more powerful. He tells them they need him and he’s sick of being the villain.

What I Disliked

Hughie uses Starlight as a lie. I feel as though this will come back to either haunt him, cause a rift between the two, or cause Starlight to go back to her ex. Dumb mistake on Hughie’s end. Cause at the minute, Hughie is jealous of Starlight being on a show with her ex.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment was Butcher cornering Soldier Boy’s sidekick in a bathroom. Butcher threatens the sidekick with an old complaint that he made about the abuse he received by Soldier Boy, the letter states that he wanted off but Vought had buried it. Butcher then gets into a shootout with the sidekick.

Standout Character

I’d give this to Butcher. He was about to leave hunting Soldier Boy, Crimson Countess, and Gunpowder until Hughie told him about Victoria being a Supe which causes Butcher to take the Temp-V and brutally murder Gunpowder.

Verdict

Another solid episode in the third season. Things are starting to heat up with Butcher now being a temporary Supe. The relationship between Starlight and Hughie is slightly off track while we get to see MM deal with the emotion of Soldier Boy. Homelander is about to do something insane and I’m all for it.
