What I Liked

1. It’s quite an interesting take on the episode. Barry is out of the blue (pun intended) thrown back into the year 2000. It doesn’t appear to be another universe and he’s just gone back in time. I do like it when The Flash goes back in time.

2. Grant’s acting after being hit by the speedster and then waking up in the hospital was perfect. His Mom and Dad are the ones that see him unconscious and they both treat him in hospital. He wakes up and the look of devastation when he truly can’t say anything and he’s just hit by a ton of grief at the same time. Incredible scene.

3. Reverse Flash returns but this time, it’s more sinister than it ever has been. Thawne has literally brought him back to the same day his parents are killed, this time though he isn’t there to kill his parents. He’s there to kill him as a child. The thing is, Barry is effectively powerless. Thawne doesn’t care if the timeline fails. It makes sense more than anything, he’s lost time and time again to Barry. What better way to just end it there.

4. It’s now Barry vs Joe. Joe’s got powers and seemingly wants to reset the balance by killing Barry. The fight is actually pretty great. Barry wins after holding back and trying to run away for most of it but takes him down and gets Joe back in control. A great fight.

5. At the very end we see Eddie working for Mercury Labs and we get the exact same reenactment with the lightning strike. The same way Barry was given his speed. The only difference is this time Eddie wakes up immediately in comparison to Barry being in a coma for almost a year. This really is getting interesting. Could we see him become the highly anticipated Cobalt Blue? I hope so.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report this week.

Favorite Moment

This is a VERY clever scene. We now have 3 versions of this scene. We’ve got young Barry, the Barry from Flashpoint, and the current one all with their very own agendas. It’s impressively done by using old footage to combine it with the current scene. Bravo.

Standout Character

It’s easily Barry this week. The acting from Grant alone was sublime and very well done. This was the first episode in a long where it truly felt like an OG episode of The Flash and it was mainly down to the way Barry was and operated.

Verdict

What an exceptional episode. This truly embodied the prime episodes of The Flash, especially season 2 vibes with the Flashpoint crossover. I don’t say this often because this series has been poor for so long but this episode is one of the best episodes in a long time, even better than the Arrow episode last week.
