What I Liked
1. I love when we get scenes from the past. We flashback to 2012 when Ronnie is new at Star Labs and meets Caitlin to help with a burn that he has. I’m so glad Robbie Amell has returned to the series. I’ve always liked his character, no matter which version he plays.
2. I’m so glad that the series is finally picking up on what happened between Stein and Ronnie during the season one finale. How everything that happened at that moment is coming into play now, in season eight. Going into this season I fully did not expect this.
3. I do truly like how Caitlin has kept her promise all these years, even after believing Ronnie is dead. She and Frost bring him back to life with the splicer. Finally, the OG Firestorm returns. I’m excited to see more of him going forward.
What I Disliked
1. The conversation between Allegra and Chester about him showing off this high-grade technology on a live stream. I can see both sides to the argument, both had valid points but I just feel like, with how smart Chester is, he should see all sides to showing people how to build these things.
2. Another conversation that I can fully understand but this is the second “smart” person to not think about the entire consequences of their actions. Barry tells Caitlin that they can not resurrect a perfect past is a perfect example of him living through it and failing to keep it.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment was the end scene. When Caitlin goes to check on Ronnie and he isn’t in his bed. She goes to look for him and we finally get to see the debut of Death Storm. Ronnie has officially turned evil. Death Storm looks absolutely BADASS.
Standout Character
Ronnie Raymond/Death Storm gets the stand-out this week. He absolutely played on the feeling deep inside of Caitlin and used her emotion to get a body and make his full return as Death Storm.
Verdict
Overall a few weird/dumb moments from a couple of characters but overall seeing the return of Ronnie and the debut of Death Storm was amazing. The story feels like it’s picking up and the story involving Iris continues to increase in mystery.
