Season 6 Episode 8 “With The Flash freshly infected by the monstrous Bloodwork, Iris and Cisco battle to help Barry take control of himself before he’s lost forever. Meanwhile, Team Flash fights to reclaim control of Central City from Bloodwork’s growing army.”
What I Liked
1. The fear in Cisco’s eyes when he realizes The Flash has gone dark is harrowing. Considering it has never been spoken about, it was quite interesting to see Cisco already had measures in place for something like this as he places a force field around StarLabs.
2. I remember thinking Ramsay would not do much damage to the city as his main goal was to cure himself. However, this proved to be quite the opposite as you see fear spread across Central City as his victims try to infect other innocents. Instead of seeing Flash being the saviour, you see Barry bring Ramsay another innocent person to infect.
3. The scene with Cecile and Kamilla as they try and escape from Bloodworks victims is so intense! I was not sure how I’d feel when the show decided to give Cecile powers, however, she has shown to be a great asset to the team and is honestly one of my favourites.
4. We once again see that fear in Cisco’s eyes when he faces Bloodwork and Dark Flash head-on with a device he has created. Barry destroys this device as Bloodwork reveals his plan to use the Particle Accelerator to infect the entire city, whilst reminding Cisco that this was a device he helped create. But Cisco still has faith as he tells Bloodwork he will lose.
5. We finally see a glimpse of Barry’s plan, as it turns out all along he has been finding ways to tell Cisco and Iris the next steps. As barry stands outside of StarLabs he tells Cisco to “Let the light in”. Cisco, of course, realizes Barry is trying to tell them to release the antidote with a UV blast. Very clever, but of course we never doubted our flash.. did we?
6. As we see Ramsay’s lifeblood travel through the accelerator, Allegra manages to make a very timely appearance as she releases a UV blast into the accelerator just in time for the explosion, spreading the antidote all across Central City curing all those affected.
7. During the final fight, we see Barry back to his normal self and going head to head with Bloodwork who then turns himself into a vicious creature. However, this is short-lived as Ramsay is paid a visit by his Mother who tells Ramsay he has turned into an “angel of destruction”. Ramsay is captured by Team flash and then handed over to Argus.
8. The end scene certainly managed to touch my heart with all the kind words shared to Barry before Crisis begins. They all share their gratitude to Barry and make sure he knows the world is a better place with him in it. The scene ends with the sky turning red and the team all standing by ready for their next fight. What a way to end this episode!
What I Disliked
1. Iris chooses not to listen to Cisco when he tells her not to confront Barry while he is infected by Bloodwork. Iris is, of course, adamant that she can save him herself, which proves not to be true as she puts her own life in danger. I feel as though the words “Team Flash” don’t mean anything to her unless it’s on her terms. To make matters worse after she returns to Cisco, she wishes to go back and try again, despite what just happened.
Favourite Moment
Despite all of the amazing moments in this episode, the final scene has to take place as my favourite moment. The team prepare to take on Crisis and take a moment to remind each other that they can do this, and they will do it together. As they all remind Barry how much they love and support him his eyes fill with tears as he says “We’ve beaten Crisis before it even begins”.
Standout Character
For me, Cisco deserves the standout character this week. A lot of pressure was put on Cisco to lead the team and take on Dark Flash. To fight against a Villain is one thing, but to fight against your Best friend must have been so hard on him. Cisco proved what a great leader he can be in this episode and it was nice to see him take control and get Barry back.
Verdict
An amazing episode on our lead up to Crisis. Very intense and filled with tension. The flash certainly know how to keep our eyes on our screens.
