The Flash “The One with the Nineties” Review

Season 7 Episode 6 – Cisco and Chester travel back in time and get stuck in 1998, repeating the same day over and over again; Iris forges a connection with the speed force.

What I Liked

1. I am loving the Caitlin and Frost scenes, I much prefer the two of them being apart but I do have an awful feeling this isn’t going to last long.

2. A little throwback for viewers tonight as Cisco and Chester go back in time! Seeing some very popular things from back in the 90’s such as blockbuster and Space Jam.

3. I love the way the show is portraying the Speed Force, not as just a thing that gives Barry his speed, but something that has emotion and is completely self-aware.

4. A time god named Dion is our new villain, I wasn’t sure where the episode was really going with this as it didn’t seem pretty interesting. But as we see towards the end Deon doesn’t even realise the true potential of his power, but he’s about to figure it out and as are we it seems.

What I Disliked

My overall dislike was the slowness of the episode, please see the verdict of my thoughts on this.

Favourite Moment

The scene between Chester and his dad was certainly an emotional one, as Chester lets go of his anger towards his Dad we find out a little bit more about who Chester is. I feel like we needed this as up until now Chester has just sorta been lingering around the team.

Standout Character

This week the standout is going to Chester. We got some great scenes from him and Cisco together, an emotional scene between him and his Dad, and in the end, it was him who managed to get everything back to normal, even if it is just for now.

Verdict

A slow start to this episode, there wasn’t much advancement until the very end. The end of the episode luckily made up for some of it as I am intrigued as to where the story is going.
