The future of Star Wars looks bright and recently, in a very long interview with Vanity Fair, The directors of projects based in a galaxy far, far away have revealed what we can expect going forward from Obi-Wan Kenobi to Andor, to The Acolyte, and more.
First up is Obi-Wan Kenobi on May 27.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series hits Disney+ on May 27 and see the long-awaited return of two iconic characters in the Star Wars universe, Obi-Wan and Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker with Hayden Christensen returning to play the iconic villain once again.
As seen above, Hayden Christensen was practicing a duel with a cape on against an Ewan McGregor stunt double.
The three main characters in the series also sat down with Vanity Fair for an interview;
Ewan McGregor also got to talk about some of his memories and his return to the role again in a behind the scenes video;

Andor is confirmed to be released in late summer 2022 and Diego Luna describes ‘ANDOR’ as a refugee story — “it’s the journey of a migrant.” “The story begins with the destruction of Andor’s birth world, then follows him into adulthood,” says Tony Gilroy.
Ewan McGregor also confirmed that his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead will star in the “Ahsoka” series which will debut in 2023.
McGregor said; “Our little boy has been born into this massive Star Wars family. He will either embrace it or really go the other way. I don’t know. Maybe he’ll be a Trekkie!”
Kathleen Kennedy also spoke on a couple of things involving Star Wars. Firstly, she confirmed that Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy is still in the works, however, it is on the back-burner.
“Rian has been unbelievably busy with Knives Out and the deal that he made at Netflix for multiple movies.”
She also spoke about SOLO: A Star Wars Story. She said that getting a new actor to replicate any of the OG characters is near impossible. While this is correct this is simply untrue. Ever since the movie was released, fans have absolutely loved Solo, they are consistently campaigning for a sequel or more recently a Disney+ series with the young actors they brought in SOLO.
Jon Watts is confirmed to be developing an untitled ‘STAR WARS’ series set after ‘Return of the Jedi’. The series is described within Lucasfilm as “a galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.”
The Mandalorian season 3 is confirmed for late 2022 or early 2023.
There was no mention for The Bad Batch season 2 so that series could be sprinkled in between releases somewhere this year.
The Acolyte did get some information released. Pretty much that the release date for the series is “slightly further off” but they did confirm it is set 100 years before The Phantom Menace.
The series is in the casting phase but has reportedly cast Amandla Stenberg. “A lot of those characters haven’t even been born yet. We’re taking a look at the political and personal and spiritual things that came up in a time period that we don’t know much about. My question when watching The Phantom Menace was always like, ‘Well, how did things get to this point?’ How did we get to a point where a Sith lord can infiltrate the Senate and none of the Jedi pick up on it? Like, what went wrong? What are the scenarios that led us to this moment?”
The Acolyte is described as a mystery thriller set in a prosperous and seemingly peaceful era when the galaxy is still sleek and glistening. “We actually use the term the Renaissance, or the Age of Enlightenment,” she says. Jedis were not always ascetic monklike figures living selflessly and bravely. “The Jedi uniforms are gold and white, and it’s almost like they would never get dirty. They would never be out and about,” Headland says. “The idea is that they could have these types of uniforms because that’s how little they’re getting into skirmishes.”
