Season 1 Episode 3 “The battered Mandalorian returns to his client for his reward.”
What I Liked
1. Right, I can’t do it anymore. How adorable is Baby Yoda?! Literally the cutest thing to ever come out of Star Wars. I hope this is a series long thing.
Side note – as far as I am concerned, it’s Baby Yoda until we get an official name. Yoda’s species remains clouded in mystery, so we don’t even know the species name either. So, I think like me, and many others, it will remain Baby Yoda until the name is released.
2. As Mandalorian drops Baby Yoda off to complete his bounty, Baby Yoda is being pulled away. You can sense it from our Bounty Hunter that this isn’t just a bounty for him anymore. Within an entire episode, we’ve saw the bond grow. It’s been exceptional. I write this 8 minutes in. I hope this is the episode where he starts killing those Stormtroopers.
3. Another upgrade on the armour. All while more backstory into what happened with the Mandalorian’s parents. It turns out the battle droids from Episode 2 were to blame. However can we just take a brief moment to appreciate the new armour?! Absolutely glorious.
4. That moment “Mando” gets on the ship and begins to power up, you begin to wonder if he’s actually going to go back for Baby Yoda. After almost pushing the thruster, he pulls it back and powers down the ship. It’s crazy that after one episode you already know exactly how he’s feeling with the whole situation.
5. After retrieving Baby Yoda, all the other Bounty Hunters receive the same mission to hunt Mandalorian down. They all corner him as he heads to the ship, however, as always, he has a few tricks up his beautiful armour.
6. Completely hunkered down, with not many options left, the only thing he could do is hope. That’s until The Mandalorian group actually make a show! What a moment!
What I Disliked
Nothing to report.
Favourite Moment
After Mandalorian goes back for Baby Yoda. We get the scenes we saw from the trailer with the Stormtroopers. After seeing the carrier he just goes off on one, and absolutely annihilates the troopers. Half before getting Baby Yoda, and the other half after. We get to see a wide range of different abilities and gadgets he uses.
Standout Character
The Mandalorian deserves this weeks standout character. The action from him was incredible. A little bit more into his backstory, a few of his tricks, his fighting, he was truly amazing! Even at the end, with his other Mandalorian friend using the jet-pack.
Verdict
A truly outstanding episode. This week it had it all, I struggled to want to vote this a 10 as I feel it deserved more than that. We learn so much, and we now know where our main story is going to lead us. Action packed, and a truly phenomenal episode. Jon Favreau can be so proud of what he’s managed to achieve with this so far.
