The Mandalorian: Season 4 or a Movie?

There’s no debating that The Mandalorian has been a huge success for the Star Wars franchise and Disney. The introduction of Grogu has seen merch fly off the shelves on top of the series being dubbed as some of the best Star Wars content.

We’ve had 3 fantastic seasons of The Mandalorian albeit season 3 being slightly weaker than the previous 2 but still enjoyable nonetheless. The question has remained the same for a few months: is season 4 coming?

We’ve had nothing confirmed from Disney as of yet except rumors. However, some rumors point towards a movie instead of a fourth season. I figured I’d weigh in with what I’d prefer instead.

There are some issues revolving around the show for me. These issues are mainly Pedro Pascal himself. Now, don’t get me wrong; I absolutely love Pedro. I think he’s been great in the show, Last of Us, he was solid in Wonder Woman 1984 and I think he’d be a great pick for Reed Richards. This is it though, it feels like he’s spreading himself too thin.

It’s already been rumored that Pedro won’t be playing the man in the suit and only the voicework so leaving out any potential unmasking scenes which always made an impact previously. I don’t want someone to half-ass the job and I’d rather someone be there constantly, especially a franchise of this size.

I am completely fine if they begin to fade away from Din Djarin and Grogu’s story and center the story around Mandalorian’s instead. They pretty much did this in season 3 but I’d be happy if the show was slightly renamed and they went down this route.

If they go down the movie route then I’m also fine with that as Pedro could be there but not as the star character. Basically, what I’m saying is I’d be fine with a movie and a series but to complete the story, I think a season 4 would be better.

Star Wars is already convoluted with the amount of side projects and it’s only got worse over the last few years. I feel like when you do a series and then tie it into a movie, it’s naturally always going to do worse because there are people that won’t understand what the movie is about so won’t bother.

There needs to be a balance when it comes to the show. I think finishing it off with a season 4 to end Din Djarin’s story and then making a movie about Mandalore and the Mandalorians would be good enough as is.

I just hope we get news on The Mandalorian soon because I’m desperate for more. I’m in the same boat with a lot of fans saying it’s some of the best Star Wars content we’ve had in years. Long may it continue and hopefully we get a season 2 for Ahsoka.
