Yesterday, literally out of nowhere, Marvel decided to drop promotional content for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, including a full-blown trailer on Simu Liu’s birthday.
If you didn’t know, Simu Liu is the actor that will be playing the starring role in the movie as Shang-Chi himself.
This is what makes the birthday drop more special.
Now, personally, this isn’t a movie that ever excited me, at all. I had no plans to go out of my way to go to the theatres to watch this, however, yesterday…it hit differently.
Before the movie was announced, I never heard of the character. Even some of my friends who are hardcore comic collectors only KNEW of the character and didn’t know much about him.
I guess in many ways, that’s what excites me more too. A lot of us are flying in blind with this movie, instead of knowing what to expect with a character such as Black Panther or Doctor Strange.
Before yesterday, I had no connection to the movie, then the trailer came. Now, I’m exceptionally excited and I seriously cannot wait for it. The trailer just shows that Marvel can barely put a foot wrong, and it’s going to be fantastic.
In many ways, this shows me that I need to reserve judgement before seeing anything – a life lesson learnt as well.
I watched the trailer 4 times in a row, simply because I couldn’t get enough of it. The music, the fighting, the character, the story – it all just looks absolutely amazing.
As of now, we’re only around 5 months away from release if all goes to plan between now and then. And we couldn’t be more excited about it.
If you haven’t already saw the trailer, you can watch it here;
Here’s also the first official poster from Marvel Studios and Disney as well;
