We’re back with another comic review and this time, we’re back with issue 2 of The World Ends In Fire. That’s right, another comic review for XanCon Entertainment. They are back with more issues expanding and telling a great story. You can read the first issue review by clicking here.
Today, we look at issue 2 of The World Ends In Fire, and see if it’s any good and if it lives up to the high expectations that the first issue delivered. As always with comic runs, we’ll break down the review into 5 categories and give our reasoning as to why.
You can read the comic issues for free in a preview and buy the comics here.
Story – 9/10
Issue 2 opens with a unique view, we see the main character head into a diner and that ends up in a massive brawl. I like this issue and where the story is headed. It’s a slow-build comic and it absolutely works. The writing for the story is so great that it keeps you interested in it.
As this was the second issue, it needed to follow the same formula that the first issue had. Bringing you in and keeping you in. The story did that. I was impressed as I’ve read countless comics from DC and Marvel and typically you get an amazing issue and then the next it’s flat.
WARCOTT, ASTERISK, 84, & PHIL: The tough one, the magic one, the quick one… and a skeleton… join this band of unlikely heroes on a fantastic adventure as they try to prevent the world ending in fire. The clock’s ticking…

Graphics – 10/10
The graphics and art style continue to impress. It’s trippy, and this is what makes it stand out. Typically with a comic, there is a certain style that they are, occasionally you have the odd trippy one and they can be either hit or miss with the art, this is not.
I love the vibe of the art style, I think it’s in a world of it’s own, especially color-wise. They’ve chosen the correct colors which make each comic panel and each scene pop out at me. Overall, the art style continues to impress me.
Entertainment – 9/10
As I said in the previous review, I would have liked to see more about why these heroes are together, why the main character, and more. This issue sort of touched on that which I loved. If this continues the way it’s headed, then I can not imagine a future entertainment section receiving a 10/10 rating.
Time – 10/10
This issue does not take much of your time. It is an easy read. It’s easy to follow so you won’t make mistakes and waste time repeating sections of the issue. The issues are all online and can read a preview of it.
I think taking 5-10 minutes to truly read through and appreciate the comic is very deserving of what the team does and what they bring to the table. The work they have put into the art, story, and characters is easily worth the investment read.
Characters – 9/10
The characters are each different. Different vibes, art, color, and more. It’s easy to write and comic and take established characters and just use their personas for your own characters. The team has not done that with the 4 heroes.
I love that each hero is different. It’s truly great to see that. Each character is like the art style, trippy. That’s a different type of comic character I’m used to. The characters continue to entertain, impress, and stand out for me.
Verdict
Overall, the team can continue to be proud of themselves. They have continued to write edit and deliver such a unique, trippy, and wild comic. The world expansion, character development, and more continue to expand and deliver answers. I can not wait to continue this story.
