“The World Ends In Fire” Issue 4 Comic Review

Can the fourth issue of The World Ends In Fire continue to grow in rating? As previously mentioned, the first issue was rated a 9.2, the second issue was 9.4, and the third was a staggering 9.5. The series has had a fantastic run.

Story – 9.1

Honestly, It would be a lie if I said the story continued to become great, throughout parts in this issue the story fell flat. While it wasn’t a major problem, I just thought the story was going to continue to pick up as it has with previous issues but it didn’t.

The story had two characters as the main focus. 84 and Asterisk. 84 went alone to steal a diamond while Asterisk went on and spoke to an old woman about a magician’s home. While the rest of the characters took the back seat in the issue.

84 continues to stand out as a fantastic character within the story.

WARCOTT, ASTERISK, 84, & PHIL: The tough one, the magic one, the quick one… and a skeleton… join this band of unlikely heroes on a fantastic adventure as they try to prevent the world ending in fire. The clock’s ticking…

Graphics – 10

There isn’t much to truly say about the graphics. We’ve said countless times that the art style of this comic series is fantastic and in this issue, it’s no different.

Entertainment – 9

With the story falling flat at times, so did the entertainment. While the 84 part of the story was still decent, it was the Asterisk story that my entertainment disappeared a little bit. My entertainment throughout this comic series run has been nothing shy of high.

Time – 10

After a busy day, I came home and immediately read this comic. I felt like the 15-minute read was decent. It flew over compared to the rest of the day. Honestly, the time for the read alone is perfect but when you take an extra 5 minutes to go back and look at all the detail it makes the time better.

Characters – 8.5

As previously mentioned in the issue 3 review, it’s not the say the characters are not great, the only issue is that the comic was mainly centered around 84 and Asterisk whereas we have four characters, 84, Asterisk, Warcott, and Phil.

I feel as though we haven’t seen a ton of Warcott and Phil. I noticed that when reading this issue. At the end of the preview, it said “To be continued” so I hope we get to explore the other two characters more in the next bunch of stories.

Verdict

Overall, a solid issue with a decent enough story for both Asterisk and 84. I have been impressed by this comic series so much over the course of the four issues I’ve read. I can not wait to see what the writers do with the characters and story going forward.
