Season 2 Episode 13 “The Titans battle Deathstroke and more.”
What I Liked?
1. Mercy Graves showed us how truly powerful Cadmus are by messing with Conner’s mind and making him into a brutal super soldier, we see this demonstrated by Conner catching a bullet then literally throwing it through someone’s head.
2. Jericho manages to break through Slades mind and escape into Rose which leads to a conversation 5 years in the making between him and Dick. This was great to see, it truly showed us how Jericho thinks of Dick and the Titans as family.
3. Rachel goes to help Gar while donna, Kory and Dawn try to help Conner. This scene had some funny moments with the 3 female Titans trying to figure out a way to start to help Conner so Kory being her normal self says “hey Conner”.
4. Now this next point is a fight I never thought I knew I wanted.. Donna vs Conner… Amazonian vs Kryptonian. This fight scene showed Donna’s fighting ability without the lasso and reminded me of Wonder Woman vs Superman from the DCEU.
5. Mercy Graves is in a surveillance van doing a live auction for evil people to buy Conner until her auction and camera’s go down.. who could of done this? none other than Bruce Wayne hacking her from inside Titans tower. I liked this because we got to see some of Bruce’s skills instead of just being Batman. Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne really changed my mind throughout the season.
6. Rachel finally gets to control her powers as she sends Dick into Conner’s mind to help him find the light that’s part of Superman in him. Dick’s heartfelt speech to Conner really helps Conner to find the light and he quickly breaks Cadmus’s hold over him.
7. Dawn goes to give a child her doll back when a part of a stage rig is about to fall and crush the civilians and Dawn so Donna speed runs over to catch it but gets electrocuted to death sacrificing herself to save the people and Dawn.
Rachel and the Titans give Donna’s body back to the Amazonians to take back to Themyscira and Rachel goes with them to try to help bring Donna back to life with her healing powers. Will we get to see Themyscira in Season 3?
8. Gar tells the Titans that the police are dealing with a bomb threat and it sounds pretty back so the Titans suit up and head out to save the day meanwhile Blackfire arrives on Earth and takes over someone’s body.
What I disliked?
1. The fight scene between Nightwing and Deathstroke was over quickly and the fight it’s self was too short which disappointed me while it was incredible to see.
2. Was Donna’s death really needed? Why couldn’t Conner not catch the stage rig i’m pretty sure he would be able to survive.
Favourite Moment
Deathstroke attacks the car that the four female Titans are driving with Kory being shot in the arm. Dick comes to the rescue as Nightwing, what an amazing entrance. We get to see a more focused, more faster, agile Nightwing who quickly is getting the better of Deathstroke but Deathstroke turns the table and starts getting the best of Nightwing until Ravager joins the fight and ends up stabbing Deathstroke.
Standout Character
Dick, He finally has moved on from his past and is focused on the future as Nightwing and the future with the Titans. He seems happier and more like himself now Jericho is back and safe.
The Verdict
Incredible episode from start to finish with decent character development. Nightwing vs Deathstroke was the best fight in the Titans series thus far. Everyone embraced that hero role their meant to be. The Donna Troy sacrifice was great but kinda cheesy and unneeded. Definitely excited to see what happens in Season 3 with Blackfire.
