Yes, it’s actually a rumour floating around that Tom Cruise could be set to suit up in the Doctor Strange sequel, The Multiverse of Madness. There’s also slight rumours that Tobey Maguire could be set to return as Spider-Man.
Now, I have no idea where these rumours originated from and trust me, I’ve tried to see if it came from the usual clickbait sites, but it seems it hasn’t. So, take this with a massive pinch of salt as always.
We know Doctor Strange 2 is set to pave the way for some weird things, especially when there’s a multiverse concerned. The possibilities are just endless and can actually open many doors for the MCU.
There’s also rumours that this is how Fantastic Four and the X-Men may be introduced which I’m all for.
You know what else I’m all for, Tom Cruise to don the suit. Weirdly, I want it.
Now before you jump on me for that, nobody can, or will ever replace RDJ as Iron Man. It’s as simple as that, but the fact that Tom was approached to play the role before RDJ, it’s interesting to see if he could actually pull it off.
There are many rumours as to why he turned it down. Some say he never wanted his face hidden in the suit, others say he believed it wouldn’t go anywhere. Nonetheless, given the success of the MCU and the Iron Man character, would any actor turn it down if offered the chance? It’s unlikely.
I don’t care much for Tobey, because if I was to see Tobey become Peter Parker once more, I’d prefer that to be a live-action Spider-Verse movie alongside Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland.
We have no idea what is going to happen in the next Doctor Strange movie. However, it is perhaps the most exciting movie for the MCU currently for me because just anything can happen or be teased.
Marvel has been quite secretive with any details of the next phase, so it will be interesting to see what this movie sets up. I could probably bet a lot of money on that it will absolutely set something huge up for the MCU afterwards.
