Top 5 Other Castings I’d Love To See In Avengers: Doomsday

It’s now been 2 days since Marvel announced the casting of Avengers: Doomsday, set for release on May 1st, 2026. There were some incredible names listed, but I still came away from the announcement feeling a little deflated.

Talks and rumors are suggesting the entire cast hasn’t been announced. It makes sense considering some of the more prominent names missing, especially those that are meant to be the new leading members of the Avengers. I will take a look at 5 that I want to see be announced next (if there are to be any further announcements).

1. Tom Holland – Spider-Man

I’d love to see Spider-Man in another Avengers film. Where I’m doubtful for Tom, though, is that Spider-Man 4 is scheduled for release after Avengers: Doomsday. The 4th film isn’t set until July 31st, 2026 so it’s one of those where we have no idea how this will go. Of course, we know everyone has forgotten who Peter Parker is, but they’re still aware of Spider-Man.

I kind of knew when the announcement was going through that it was going to be very touch and go whether or not Tom would feature. I do not doubt that if it isn’t a part of Doomsday, then I think he’ll be a part of Secret Wars, which will release a year later. It’ll feel weird at this point not to have Spider-Man involved. He’s been a part of every crossover since Civil War back in 2016.

2. Benedict Cumberbatch – Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange was met by Clea at the end of Multiverse of Madness and is now on a mission to stop an incursion. I’d still find it odd that Doctor Strange wouldn’t play a part. He’s one of the main Avengers now and is perhaps one of the most powerful. His being missing felt weird, but I still think if there are to be any further announcements, Benedict will be on that list – I hope so, anyway.

We don’t have any concrete information on a third Doctor Strange film but I believe it’ll happen. Before that, Doctor Strange has a major role to play in not just defending Earth but the multiverse as well. We all know that Dr. Doom will be from an alternative universe so it kind of just makes sense for Doctor Strange to be there.

3. Ryan Reynolds – Deadpool

Out of all of the announcements, Ryan Reynolds’ name missing was the most disappointing. I’m still unsure how Deadpool really fits in within an Avengers movie but my God, I want to see it. We know that Wade was at an interview with Happy to try and get into the Avengers, but failed. This is something Deadpool wants for himself.

I do believe if there’s a part of any Earth where the Avengers are under a very serious and real threat, he’ll be there. After all, Dr. Doom is going to be a monumental threat, so it’s another character that makes sense to be there; he’ll be there only because he can be. With the TVA ark from Deadpool & Wolverine and the return of Loki, can Hunter bring Deadpool into the fight? I hope so.

4. Hugh Jackman – Wolverine

Wolverine was last seen at the table with Wade and his friends. We have no idea what Wolverine plans to do from this point but it felt like he was there to stick around. This does mean if Ryan Reynolds is cast, it’s probably likely to think Hugh Jackman would follow. After all, there have been quite a number of the OG X-Men actors cast for Doomsday so it’s believable to think Logan would be next.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s still some OG members of the X-Men missing, such as Storm, but I do believe Marvel may be saving Storm for a later purpose which could be T’Challa. Wolverine makes sense, and I think being able to see Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine be a part of an Avengers movie would be thoroughly deserved. It’ll come full circle for Jackman’s career as Logan.

5. Elizabeth Olsen – The Scarlet Witch

Wanda’s had a tough ride since the events of Endgame. WestView and then going full villain in search of her children using the Darkhold. We do see how powerful The Scarlet Witch really is. She ripped apart the Illuminati with relative ease, but I think above all else, she deserves a redemption story. She’s been through a lot in the MCU, losing her parents, brother, the love of her life, and is ultimately alone.

I’d like Doomsday to truly be Wanda’s redemption story. I like to think she isn’t dead after the events of Multiverse of Madness, it didn’t feel final enough for me. Wanda could be kept as a surprise as I do believe Marvel will hold some actors back for that surprise factor, as they tend to always do. Wanda would be a perfect one to do that.
