Topps Star Wars Mandalorian Trading Cards – Is It Worth It Review

We’ve done a few reviews on trading cards on the site, I absolutely love collecting and reviewing them so I think it’s time I jump into the world of Star Wars trading cards and this is the first review for it.

Now as this is my first box review, I’ll try my best to give a fair price review for the cards that I received in the box.

Over the past few days, I’ve watched and seen people unbox the Star Wars cards made by Topps. First thoughts are that the cards are well designed, well-illustrated, and perfectly boxed.

For Beginners/rookies

Firstly, a box of this size which is 24 packs in a single box is fantastic, you get a wide range of quality cards and fantastic value in terms of a collection. This is one of the more important things when diving into a new trading card product for me personally.

Any Star Wars fans would be absolutely over the moon with these cards because it gives you a wide range of different cards from basic cards to parallels to character-focused cards and more. While opening an entire box can leave you overwhelmed, the way they pack the cards are perfect. After a few packs, you begin to learn the way the cards are set up.

For Collectors

I consider myself more of a collector than a beginner or purely for-profit type. The cards that come in this product are absolutely fantastic, especially for being a collector. Not only does this set come with base set cards, but they come with different kinds of cards with some fantastic images on them.

In this set, they have a card that is known as a “crystal” card and it can have characters such as Grogu or the iconic Ahsoka Tano. These cards are shown on the box and they look insanely nice, however, I managed to pull one in this box, I pulled the Ahsoka Tano card and in-person… it looks absolutely beautiful.

I’m definitely thinking about getting some of these cards graded so I can keep them in my collection forever. As a collector, I look for different types of cards and another card type in this set is “concept cards”. As the title states these types of cards show images of concept cards from the world of The Mandalorian and I absolutely love the style of card that they are, I also might get a few of these graded too.

Purely for Profit

Now, can you make a profit on this box or set of cards? From my perspective, yes you can. Even if you sell every single card for £0.25p you can make back around £50 which is around £6.50 profit. Not to mention that there are special cards within this box. Those can bring in any price depending on the style, character, and special card.

They also have ultra-rare autograph cards inside lucky packs, if you manage to open a pack and pull an autograph, that will also send the profit through the roof. The autographs you can receive are Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Nick Nolte (Kuiil), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Taika Waititi (IG-11), Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett), and Omid Abtahi (Dr. Pershing). So that in itself is some huge profit, especially Giancarlo Esposito and Temuera Morrison.

I managed to pull a Moff Gideon card, but it wasn’t jumped, however, I still believe I personally made a profit by buying this box for £44. I think I will buy some more going forward.

Is It Worth It?

Definitely a valid question. As a collector, this is very much worth it for the cards alone. As a person who is in it purely for profit, 50/50 is the answer. You can make a profit by buying this box anyways, but if you buy it and pull an ultra-rare autograph, you are laughing.

Overall Verdict

A fantastic product from the world of The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2. This product has had some incredible artwork in the concept art cards as well as the poster cards. It gives you a wide range of quality cards which are all fantastic. The base cards can be a hit or miss but the main focus is the special cards in this set.

Recommend?

1000% Yes. I would highly recommend this set and product for any trading card fan or any Star Wars fan. I will definitely be getting some more in the near future.
