Watchmen “She Was Killed by Space Junk” Review

If you are still feeling confused by the drastic depth to the Watchmen world – you are not alone. We opened with a recap drawing back to the mystical Doctor Manhattan and his godlike presence in this dark world. We are introduced to another side of reality in the form of vigilantes being illegal.

Following Laurie Blake (Jean Smart) and her presence in the Watchmen world draws a new dynamic to the world outside of the masked police force. We see her attempt to communicate with the blue demi-God in a phone booth styled in a way synonymous with the Doctor.

Meanwhile we are reminded of the harshness of the Seventh Cavalry as they attempt a terrorist attack at Crawford’s funeral. We see Angela’s plight continue into exploring the questions of who killed Crawford and why. Furthermore, with the back drop of the sinister tic-toc of the Seventh Cavalry.

I am honestly quite happy with the pace of the storytelling currently. Lindeloff has done a masterful job in character construction which I think is reflected in the sinister Watchmen world. I have had many debates over the last couple of days that the show is doing the graphic novel injustice but I do believe thus far it is.

It the story were made lighter the darker themes of racial injustice would feel displaced. It would be silencing a cord that needs to be voiced.

This is a show for adults and I think people need to respect that.
