It has been over 5 months since Survivor was released. This game provided me with one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. Even now, I am enjoying my third playthrough of the story.
Fallen Order came out on the 15th of November 2019. The DLC content came out on May 4th, 2020 so we’re closing in to that exact same time.
I would love to see a full story DLC for the game, but it’s unlikely to happen if we follow the same formula. One thing that bothers me is that in the second game, Greez has a prosthetic arm, but we never get a clear explanation of how it happened.
This information is covered in the Battle Scars novel. Greez lost his arm defending Cal from the Fifth Brother. It could have been included as DLC for Fallen Order, but it wasn’t.
However, I do hope that the developers add some features that can improve the game’s quality of life. Here are five things I would like to see added to the game.
1. Ability to use 3 stances at once
For me, this is ideally at number 1 because it’s easily the number 1 thing I want. You get 5 stances in the game;
- Single
- Duel wield
- Double bladed
- Blaster
- Crossguard
No matter which 2 stances you choose, you can transition between the 2 seamlessly and it doesn’t matter which combo you use. There are times I’d love to be able to use single, duel, and double to transition.
After all, Cal has access to that multi-use lightsaber so let us have fun transitioning mid-battle. You could even go as far as adding all of them if you could get the button presses down well enough.
2. Darksaber/black-colored crystal
This is a controversial one. I’ve spoken to people who are against the Darksaber or even just the black coloured saber due to the fact there is only one Darksaber in the galaxy. I understand that and I also respect that.
However, this is a game. This could be unlockable after the game is completed for the first time. After all, how many Jedi have you seen rock a party-styled saber where it changes color on hit? I want to enjoy these things. Cal can even use a red saber after the first game finishes and he’s a Jedi Knight. It’s purely cosmetic and it’ll be nice to see it added in. Even the Force Unleashed had it so I can’t see a reason why this can’t.
3. New outfits
The sequel did a fantastic job of giving us additional costumes and the ability to adjust how Cal looks to our liking. There are some decent costumes in there but there needs to be more.
The Inquisitor suit in the last game was a welcomed addition however it’s missing in this one. I want to see more Jedi-styled costumes or even Sith-styled ones. There is more you can add from a cosmetic standpoint. They have Obi-Wan’s and also Luke Skywalkers in there so there’s a lot more that can be added.
4. New lightsabers
One of the things I love most about the Jedi games is the customization of the lightsaber. There are so many different ways you can style the saber to suit you. I still feel like there is more that can be added here, more in the form of complete sabers.
They have Kenobi’s in the game so maybe adding some more popular lightsabers to be able to be customized could be a welcomed addition to the game and would definitely breathe some new life into the game.
I know there are already a lot of options but this is just me being selfish wanting that bit more from the customization aspect.
5. Arena Combat
This was another aspect added to Fallen Order in the DLC but it’s missing in Survivor. There are combat arena elements throughout the game but you need to find them.
I want this added back but I want it added back with the added challenges the same way they are when you locate them throughout the game, where you’re forced to use a particular stance or forced to fight specific enemies. It’s a fun addition and gives the player a chance to show off their skills or even train better to use a particular stance.
For example, the Crossguard stance is an example of high risk, high reward in these types of games but only if you get the timing down perfectly. It takes a lot of time to get it right so giving us the combat arena allows the player to train that skill to get it right.
Currently, though, there is no indication of whether DLC is coming for Survivor. If we go by Fallen Order then it’s likely it’ll just come on a whim and unexpectedly as it did the first time. I just hope Respawn is working on something in the background to keep the game fresh as it’s likely we’ll be waiting another 3 and a half years for the third game.
