What If…? “Hela Found the Ten Rings” Review

What I Liked

1. An interesting start. Instead of Odin banishing Hela to Hell, he does the same thing he does in Thor 1 to Thor and banishes her to Earth without her powers. I liked this scene more because Odin doesn’t settle, he destroys the Mjolnir with pure ease with Heimdall activating the beacon to do so. A solid opening to the episode.

2. Got to give Hela her due in all honesty. Even without her power, she can still put up a great fight against other mortal humans. Hela dispatches multiple of Wenwu’s men without even breaking a sweat. She’s only stopped by Wenwu using the rings, which is a testament to Hela’s abilities.

3. It’s nice to see a lot from the Shang-Chi movies in this episode including the location where the final battle sequence took place. Hela is desperately out of ideas at this point but Heimdall has lost sight of her so there’s that on the back of it. It’s intriguing to see what depths Hela will go to to get back at Odin.

4. We already knew the Ten Rings are powerful but it was nice to hear Heimdall and Odin confirm that as well. I can’t wait to see the Rings explored further in the next Shang-Chi film.

5. It was great to see Hela go through the same training Shang-Chi did. It does go to show that this level of training doesn’t only improve one’s abilities but the mind also. You’d think Hela is always too far gone to be redeemed but it appears to not be the case here.

6. A fantastic fight scene happens between Hela and Wenwu vs Odin. It’s nice to see Odin in a fight for once as it was never something we truly got to see in live-action. Odin struggles against the Rings but he maintains the fight. That’s until Hela uses her training to disarm Odin and becomes victorious.

7. Ah, it ended right as Hela, Wenwu and their army fast approached Thanos who was meeting Gamora for the first time ready to take him on. I would’ve loved to have seen that! That looked so damn good.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report.

Favorite Moment

After Hela beats Odin, she gets access to her crown again. When it hits her, she gets this stunning white suit instead of the black and green one she used prior. This is Hela becoming the hero instead of the Goddess of Death. I would’ve loved to see this happen in live-action, what a moment!

Standout Character

It’s easily Hela. She was fantastic in this episode and it was so damn good to see her as the hero. I’ve already mentioned it during this review but I would have loved to see Hela turn hero in live-action. The best episode of the season so far.

Verdict

The best episode so far for the reason by a country mile. I loved everything from the story, the action, and the quality of it. I can’t say much more than that but this one is definitely worth the watch.
