What If…? “Kahhori Reshaped The World?” Review

Season 2 Episode 6 – “A Mohawk woman ventures into the waters of the forbidden lake to help save her people.”

Please note, our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain significant spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode, we recommend that you click off the article and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

What I Liked

1. The opening scene shows Surtur come to Asgard to destroy it. We see Asgard in ruins with seemingly only Odin left standing. He uses the tesseract against Surtur and it causes the tesseract to go to a different world.

2. We see Kahhori and her friend or relative go running into the forest towards the forbidden lake, when they hear a noise, originally thinking it’s thunder, they quickly realize it’s their village being destroyed. They get chased into a cave where they find some glowing water when a soldier shoots Kahhori causing her to fall into the water and she ends up finding the tesseract.

3. I do like the powers and style that the tesseract gave the people in this episode. It looks cool, it seems to be powerful. I think this power set could be a decent addition to the MCU.

What I Disliked

Honestly, I like that the show is doing or trying something new with an episode, but having an entire episode not spoken in English and having to read subtitles the entire time has completely taken me out of the episode.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would be seeing Kahhori use her powers to fight against the Spanish invasion and save her people from becoming slaves. The Spanish used everything to fight against Kahhori, weapons, fists, and canons.

Standout Character

I’ll give this to Kahhori. She’s a cool original character for the MCU. Given how the episode ended, I believe she could be used for the overall story of What If…? this season.

Verdict

Overall, a weak episode. While the overall action of the episode was somewhat decent, the story lacked any emotional attachment. The story sort of just threw you into this random time period and basically said “Figure it out”. Definitely the weakest episode of What If…? to date.
