What I Liked

1. An interesting start to the episode. Yondu has been killed on Xandar and Nebula finds the body but is unsure of who killed him. She’s working alongside the Nova Corps which we knew by the title anyway. She does look badass in the suit with her car/ship hybrid, I wasn’t particularly bothered by this episode initially but so far it looks great.

2. So the actual change in this universe is that Ronan killed Thanos and took Gamora. Nebula was then left with nothing, so she joined the Nova Corps. She also joined to protect Xandar from Ronan and his forces. This entire story is intriguing, more so that Ronan actually had the ability to kill Thanos.

3. Some great cameos in this episode from Drax to Korg. Howard the Duck makes an appearance as well. I do love it when they include characters from other aspects especially from the likes of Korg.

4. I love how smooth Nebula is at times. Despite how “to the point” she is, she makes it feel better when she’s playing someone that’s similar to a cop. The prison break sequence was pretty good as well, I liked the small amount of action we got here and how effortlessly she made the escape feel.

5. We learn as the episode goes on that Nebula was only hired so the higher-ups of the Nova Corps can use her. She’s betrayed after the prison escape and beaten nearly to death. She barely manages to escape and drags herself to the bar where Korg and Howard are. This entire scene was intense and you were just hoping for someone like Thanos or Gamora to show up to help, even though Thanos is dead.

6. For each episode where the main character(s) uses the MCU actors voice it will automatically get put into the likes because it feels natural instead of a random voice actor.

What I Disliked

I struggle to believe the Yaka Arrow could be snapped as easily as it was by a normal human. Granted, it was snapped fairly easily in the films but that was by a massive monster. This arrow penetrates surfaces and human bodies with no effort at all. This arrow is legendary, it’s like they didn’t even care about it afterward.

Favorite Moment

Nebula donning Yondu’s coat, the Finn and the Arrow was fantastic!! They absolutely destroyed most of a Nova Corps squadron in seconds! That’s one of those scenes I would’ve loved to see in live-action.

Standout Character

Nebula is the standout. I loved this version of her. She wanted to do the right thing because she took an oath to do so. Her personality was still as cut and dry as ever but when you add in the fact she wanted to do the right thing, it created this really interesting take on her.

Verdict

A fantastic opening episode to season 2. I was a bit skeptical about this episode when the episode list dropped and it was one of the episodes I didn’t care for but this was solid. It started a good foundation and got to the point immediately.
