Season 1 Episode 7 “Thor, who never learned to be a good hero, throws an out-of-control intergalactic party on Earth.”
What I Liked?
1. The episode begins with Jane Foster and Darcy in the middle of the desert, they are trying to contact SHIELD to inform them of an impending invasion by aliens, we see the Bifrost go over and landed in Las Vegas, Thor as well as many other cosmic beings, have come to Earth to, well, to party. This Thor is completely different from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. This opening was to show which characters were on Earth from characters like Howard the Duck to the Grand Collector.
2. I love the take on this story for Odin, instead of finding Loki and raising him as his own, he takes him back to the Frost Giants and Loki and Thor never become “real” brothers, we later see Loki who’s as tall as the Frost Giants, blue, and obviously the Prince of them.
3. We get to see SHIELD’s immediate response with Maria Hill as Director because, Korg, injured Nick Fury, so SHIELD wants Jane Foster to help them attack because she had the first contact with Thor and his friends that came to Earth, to which Jane Foster delines.
4. Loki, who looks absolutely badass, lands in France, he walks up to Thor and has a bit of frosty tension between the two, however, the two are actually friends, and then we get to see more partying from Thor and company until a “shooting star” comes down and punches Thor, It’s Captain Marvel, she’s here to get Thor to leave Earth, however, the two get into an even bigger fight.
5. Now for the bit that absolutely caught me off guard, I knew that Ultron was in the series, I knew he had the Infinity Stones, however, this reveal, I did not see coming at all, when Thor is headed back to Asguard, a portal opens up, out walk Ultron minions followed by Ultron, his face mask lifts up to reveal Vision, decked out in the Infinity Stones. I need more to this reveal ASAP.
What I Disliked?
1. The story, I didn’t like this story at all, I thought it was bad, boring, and bland, it had no true motive, it was literally just “here is Thor, he has come to party” It felt pointless, I was bored watching it, this is the worst episode of the season so far.
2. Thor. I hate this “party Thor”, he’s annoying, he’s over the top, and he has nothing compared to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe Thor. He’s the worst “What If” counterpart to date.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment was definitely the fight between Thor and Captain Marvel, and I have to say, I was 100% team Captain Marvel, he completely threw Thor about, punched him to different countries, they even teased a round 2 between the two heavyweights, I need to see another fight between the two.
Standout Character
Captain Marvel, came to Earth, had a fight and absolutely rocked Thor with multiple big hits, and ultimately became the better person by helping Thor with his mother.
The Verdict
Overall, this was the worst episode of the season thus far. It had it’s good moments like the fight between Thor and Captain Marvel, as well as the Vision reveal at the end of the episode, but the story was underwhelming, bad, bland, and often boring at times. The action was definitely the best part of the episode.
