Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords braced our rusty old PC screens back on the 6th December 2004.
Even now, I still refer people to play this and I don’t think I have ever heard of someone disappointing with the original game.
What always fascinated me by this game was the absolute choice to go down whatever path you liked. Sith, Jedi, you can even just use blasters if you prefer.
In today’s day and age where solid single-player RPG games are fairly scarce – good ones anyway, could this be the answer? It’s what Star Wars fans long for.
Now picture this completely remade, not remastered. Building your own lightsaber, or weapon. Sith, Jedi, bounty hunter? Your choice. Choosing aspects of the story through choices. Open world, and even being able to visit different planets.
Now, most of those are pretty much in the original, but this could be amazing in the right hands.
Jedi: Fallen Order is the best Star Wars game I’ve played, it was great, but I feel like a KOTOR 2 remake could be the absolute pinnacle of a Star Wars game.
We know Fallen Order 2 has been given the green light, and another project is underway according to job leaks from EA – “the ultimate open-world experience”. Could it be this? Or at least in this direction for a Star Wars game.
EA does have huge success in this particular genre. Look at Mass Effect (please ignore Andromeda), they could absolutely pull this off if they remain on a less “money-grabbing” scheme.
Even dependant if they follow the original incredible storyline they used in the original, or if they go down a completely different story – either way, the Star Wars lore is filled with stories that could make for an unforgettable experience.
If the next trilogy is to explore the Old Republic, then the game could work at cementing certain characters in place for a new trilogy. Albeit, of course, it depends which comes first, however, either one could certainly help the other.
