Why Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3 Should Happen

This article contains spoilers from No Way Home. If you haven’t watched the movie I’d suggest to exit off as soon as you can.

Since the monumental success of No Way Home, we’re seeing a magnitude of social media posts across all platforms in support of Andrew Garfield properly reprising his role as Spider-Man to finish off his trilogy of movies.

No Way Home has done what seems like an impossible feat right now and has officially earned over $1b at the Box Office. In Covid times, this never seemed like a possibility and it’s scary to even think where the numbers would be if the world still wasn’t in a pandemic.

For those who don’t know, Andrew Garfield was originally meant to have a third movie in the Amazing Spider-Man series. In fact, at the time Sony had a huge universe planned to build around Garfield.

We even had a Sinister Six movie in the works. Of course, it was all never meant to be and after Garfield left the role as Spider-Man, it seems everything around the build was canceled which still is to this day, a damn shame.

Obviously, we know now that Garfield reprised his role in No Way Home. He was definitely one of the standout characters as Spider-Man in that movie. It was so amazing to see him again.

Personally, I loved Andrew as Spider-Man. More so I loved his will to want to do the character right. He believed in the project so much. If you watch any footage of his back when he was still Spider-Man, you will see just how much he cares about the Peter Parker character.

We learn in No Way Home that he suffered greatly after the death of Gwen Stacy. He was so filled with rage he even stopped pulling his punches. This is something I think as a fan, I would have loved to see.

One of the many scenes in No Way Home that made me cry was when he saved MJ from falling. After Tom’s Peter got stuck, he managed to throw himself down and catch her at the very last second. The scenes were almost identical to when he tried to save Gwen. His face when he successfully catches her spoke 1,000 words.

These are just some of the reasons why I think Garfield should get another movie, he just showcased greatly how amazing he is as Spider-Man. Even to the point, I think a lot of people now realize he was actually pretty good as Spider-Man. It’s just nice to see many fans come together in support of him.

We know now that Sony and Marvel work together on the Spider-Man projects, but Sony still has its own universe. As of now, that includes Venom, Morbius, and Into The Spider-Verse.

In the mid-credits scene for No Way Home, we know Venom goes back to his universe (at least we’re assuming that’s where he went). This is where it could become interesting.

Having Tom Hardy’s Venom and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man come to blows for a trilogy movie would be epic. This would allow Tom Holland to remain firmly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe whilst Sony could utilize a proven Spider-Man for their own universe.

Not to mention, this is just a win-win for everybody. Marvel keeps Tom, Sony getting their own Spider-Man to use and we as fans just get blessed with entertainment from both sides. They could easily come together again to introduce Miles as well in live-action.

Andrew Garfield deserves a proper ending to his franchise. It makes sense to give him it as well. Tobey Maguire had a very good run and there’s even scope for him to return for a fourth. I’d love any direction they go to give these 2 another shot at the role, but giving Andrew a third would be the better option if we could only have one.

As mentioned, I loved Garfield’s 2 movies despite knowing the second one maybe could have been better. But out of all 3 live-action Spider-Man, they’ve all had that one movie that could have been better. Nobody can deny that no matter how much of a fan you are of an individual Spider-Man.

This is one of the many reasons why I’m still so thankful for No Way Home. It’s spawned these possibilities I think we all thought were impossible prior to the release.

Rumors are already floating with “confirmed” movies of each Spider-Man, but we know these are just rumors. If anything does come to play we’ll let you know.
