Why Batman vs Superman Isn’t That Bad – Unpopular Opinion #19

The DC extended universe gets so much hate, While I’m a huge fan of DC and DC Comics, I do understand people’s frustrations with the movies.

While I absolutely love the movies, I’ll do my best to try to defend each one, especially when a DC movie is getting ridiculed by a “Marvel Stan”, like Birds of Prey, Justice League (the Whedon cut, yes I defended it), and even Wonder Woman 1.

Batman Vs Superman is a movie that gets hate as well, I’m not sure why, yes, the design for Doomsday is trash but everything else is spot on, the story, the action, the visuals, even Wonder Woman’s introduction into the final battle was spot on.

The tone of the movie was dark and gloomy, it felt perfect for a DC Comics movie, especially with how dark some of the DC comic stories are, this honestly felt right.

We got to see a man go up against a god for what he did, for what destruction he caused while “saving” the planet. This was Ben Affleck’s first movie as Bruce Wayne, an older, worn-out Batman but he could still kick-ass.

Henry Cavill was great as Superman as well, he’s the perfect embodiment for Clark Kent. His acting in this movie was great, his chemistry with both Affleck’s Batman and Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor was superb and really bounced off each other.

Speaking of Lex, Eisenberg killed it as Lex, I thought I’d hate him, especially with him being this skinny man with red hair, but he absolutely killed the role, I really want to see him back as Lex.

The final battle was great as well, even the Doomsday part of the fight. We got to see Batman go up against Superman, it felt like the Dark Knight vs Superman ripped from the comics, it was perfect. Doomsday made his debut and went straight for Superman, we got to see the two team up then Wonder Woman made her introduction into the battle.

We then got to see Superman make the ultimate sacrifice and end the battle with Doomsday. This was moving, emotional, and just had to watch without a tear.

Does the movie deserve the hate it gets? absolutely not, what this movie lacks, makes up for in the ultimate edition of the movie which was released. It set the standard for the dark tone the DC movies take.

Not to mention, this was the start of the first tease of the Justice League coming to live-action and done very well. I don’t think this movie got a fair shake since it was cut down and Edited for its theatrical release, which is where the ultimate edition comes in.
