Why Cyborg Needs A Movie or Series After The Snyder Cut

It’s no secret that the rift between Ray Fisher and Joss Whedon, Geoff Johns, Walter Hamada, and others is at an all-time high.

From being the heart of the movie in Zack Snyder’s original Justice League movie to having his story and scenes cut and thrown out by Joss Whedon to having all of the scenes and then some put back together and revealed in Zack Snyder’s Justice League is huge.

I’ve watched the film, and I realized within 20 minutes just how much was cut from the original movie, not just for Ray but for other actors as well, The Amazonians, Darkseid, and more.

In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, you could tell just how special the character of Victor Stone was to Zack Snyder and to Ray Fisher. Ray Fisher’s performance as Cyborg was authentic, real, emotional, and raw. I’m so glad his backstory was revealed.

It made the reveal worth waiting for after 5 years. Victor Stone’s story has always been one of tragedy, loss both physically and mentally, survival, and yet this all molded and shaped him into the man he becomes, you could feel that with Ray’s performance in this movie. Especially the scenes between him and Silas.

Zack Snyder also did an incredible job of showcasing that, yes his body is now more machine and technology than human, but deep inside, Victor still had a heart. You could literally feel that when his music played in every scene. This is what should have been in the original, in a way I’m glad Whedon cut this because only Zack could deliver the right ingredients for Ray to fully capture in his portrayal.

I’ve been on Twitter all day and I’ve seen thousands of tweets supporting Ray and Cyborg. They absolutely love his story, his portrayal in the film.

This doesn’t take any light away from the fact that this man, who has been nothing but grateful, excited, and emotionally attached to this character was fired from The Flash movie because of him speaking out about the abuse and racism he and his fellow cast and crew endured from Joss Whedon, Geoff Johns, and Jon Berg during the reshoots back in 2017 for the Justice League movie.

Zack Snyder made him the main character for a reason because, like Cyborg, Ray was the heart of the movie. Warner Bros tried to destroy that by bringing in a racist and abuser. Ray has most of his story cut, scenes badly edited, and just no explanation on stuff about him in Whedon’s cut.

Now after his first original performance you can see how pure, how true it was. Ray Fisher deserves to continue playing Cyborg, he’s made this character something special. He along with the rest of the JL cast and crew deserves far much better than the treatment from Warner Bros.

There is plenty of stories left to tell for Cyborg, on the big screen or in an HBO Max series. Ray’s story as Cyborg should be far from over. They both deserve to shine, the fans who love this character and the actor deserve to see this character in live-action again.
